Just saw the morning sports on Channel 3, and wouldn't you know Uconn football got the last billing. High school sports and Uconn womens basketball were all mentioned ahead of Uconns game today with Louisville. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!!!. The media has got to change its attutude on the coverage of Uconn football, which is one of the reasons why the nation frowns upon our chances of reallignment. This has been going on too long for the states TV and newpaper outlets.

TV stations would probably talk about it if it drove ratings. They don't have an agenda. People in the sport just don't care. I'm constantly trying to get people on the UConn Football bandwagon, but most of them find the idea laughable. For them, it's basketball or bust.

Welcome to the "Whaler Treatment"!

Well channel 3 is at it again. Top billing for Uconn mens and womens basketball, then going over the 85 high school football playoff games. No mention of UCONN FOOTBALL. They just don't get it. We are struggling to survive major college football, which drives the bus I hear everywhere, and all channel 3 covers is the same day in and day out. They are worse than ESPN because they are local. Would it be so terrible to have a half hour Uconn football show every week. We need the hype and we are not getting it. HELP!!!!!!!!

Complain to them, doing it hear does nothing. Uconn is basketball school first until they win in football, nothing is going to change that.

The players will probably play using the snub as motivation. "Us vs. the world".

Holy crap no mention of Uconn mens basketball on Channel 3 sports this morning. Super bowl Sunday and we have a game at Gampel. Of course they showed full highlites of Uconn womens basketball, but what really grinds my gears is they keep showing Hartford womens basketball highlites. Does anyone really care. Here we are struggling to stay afloat in the world of major college athletics and the flagship station in Connecticut keeps ditching Uconn. Somebody HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP us please!!!!

The demographic that watches the Channel 3 news is the demographic that watches women's basketball. Of course they show that stuff.

Anybody is only aware of what is going on with men's basketball through the local TV news is someone you aren't going to generate revenue on anyway.

Normally, the thing that gets the last billing in the news is the subject they deem to be the most important (in other words, the subject that will keep people watching the rest of the crap news and crap commercials until it comes on). That is why sports is generally the last thing to air in a half-hour news segment on almost every news channel that I know of. So if football is the last thing to go on the last segment, it's because they are actually emphasizing it, not de-emphasizing it.

Unless of course they only gave it 6 seconds worth of airtime. I'm not sure because I didn't see the Channel 3 broadcast...

To add to my comment above, I typically used to wait until about 11:24pm on an "Eleven O'Clock News Show" to tune in to see anything involving the Huskies. I would save almost a half-hour of my life, and I never regretted the choice...

Whaler is right about this. The demographic that watches the local news is the one that actually thinks the women could give the men's team a decent game.

Maybe you should switch to Ch. 8, 30 or 61 instead...
