I’m not really sure what a wing is. Having seen a few of her games at Mitty HS, I’d say she plays like a 4: good rebounding, good interior passing, quick outlet pass on defensive rebounds and good post moves. She’s not a great perimeter shooter but her midrange shot is good and she finishes well at the rim. She has a good “turn and shoot” game. And she runs the court really well. The only question mark for me is whether she’s big enough to play her current style at the next level. A slender 6’2” may get pushed around a lot in D1. She may solve this problem over the next two years by developing a better perimeter game or by putting in a lot more work in the weight room

There's some interview of Geno saying that he was recruiting someone who was also a talented softball player in addition to basketball so most are suspecting it's McKenna.

From what I've seen, McKenna is much more interested in Notre Dame while her father is pushing for South Carolina. I haven't seen any UCONN offer out to her and honestly, given her reaction to the ND offer, we don't stand a chance, especially since we were a rival school to (presumably) one of her favorite college teams when she was younger.

Angel Reese has a similar build to McKenna, not much muscle, but it didn't hold her back because she knew how to get to her sweet spot. McKenna is an elite athlete; I don't think she'll be too hampered at the next level.

I don't think so. Angel was bigger and stronger than McKenna even in high school. And by her senior year at LSU, she was much bigger.

Not sure if any coaches can agree how to define what a wing is. Maybe it’s just the best player on the team you aren’t starting at 1, 2, 4, or 5.

On a fully healthy, loaded UConn team, I looked at C. Ducharme as the ideal wing.

Now that sounds like Soni Citron or Caroline Ducharme. They can hit the 3, drive the lane, block shots and grab rebounds. But you don't want them muscling up against the likes of Aaliyah Edwards or Angel Reese, or Kiki Iriafen or Maddy Westbeld. Qadence Samuels seems like a wing to me.

I like what I see in McKenna, and she plays more like a 4 right now at Mitty HS, or even a 5. But I don't think she's got the build for that at the D1 level, and she doesn't have the perimeter shooting game to move out to the wing. The key, though, is that she's got 2 more years to figure out how she wants to play, as I said above. Either put on some more muscle or develop a perimeter shooting game. I expect she'll do one or the other, or both.

Swin Cash was a slender 6’1”, and I don’t recall people pushing her around, in college or the WNBA. That being said, practicing her shooting and hitting the weight room can only make McKenna a better player.

I think this is a mistake. Many of us have talked about Woliczko since she burst on the scene as a hopeful POI, but there isn't indication yet that she is.

I guess you and HuskyNan need to agree on a list.

I find the old way of one recruiting thread per month a little bit unwieldy into getting to know POIs. Unless you are plugged in, that is. But how many of us really are? That is why I have my dashboard per POI.

The new way is better in this regard, in addition to Temery’s consideration — which I agree with, to make the BY attractive via google to the public writ large who will have less patience than the typical BYer in navigating the old recruiting threads.

The new way could be hampered by a proliferation of recruiting threads. That’s why I have only posted on recruits with offers or with current pertinent remarkable information.

The first time I saw Woliczko play was in an 8th-grade posteseaon NorCal Allstar game. It was an all-day multigame event and I didn't plan on making this game; was early in the set and I thought there was almost no way I'd find an 8th-grade girls game all that entertaining...

I'm really glad I got there earlier than expected... and boy, was I wrong! Quite a show...

McKenna DOMINATED in all aspects! And unlike 99% of stars in one of these games, she played straight up, setting picks, moving without the ball, passing to open teammates... No hero-ball iso stuff. Wonderful to watch! Even though she 100% played team ball, she led the stats in just about everything.

To the present... She is still amazing, but her slender build is a bit of a concern. Needs to get stronger, but she's about as complete a player as I've seen in person.

McKenna actually finishes very well inside, perhaps not by powering through contact, but by quickly, decisively, and efficiently getting that ball up and out her hands into the hoop as fast as possible.

It seems Geno made his mind up early about not recruiting Woliczko. But then again, I thought Davidson had similarly been not been recruited/offered until very recent news suggesting UConn is one of her finalists.

Olivia Vukosa at 6'4" seems to fit the profile of post recruits Geno has pursued much better than McKenna.

At 6'2" tops, but not quite a natural ball-handler, McKenna, like Nneka, seems like she could end up an undersized center. If McKenna can continue to extend her range and consistency with shooting, that will allow her to roam around the perimeter more.

If we're wondering why Woliczko hasn't received an offer from Geno yet, I have to suspect it's about the cap. This is just my poor arithmetic, but assuming enough people stay for 25-26, and either Somfai or Jazzy comes to Uconn, and Olivia and Jerzy the following year along with his other outstanding offers, I'm not sure there will be room for her. That would make it just a judgment call on Geno's part about who's likely to come and who will be the best fit with the roster he'll have then.

I hear some talk about where she is leaning but had she herself ever said anything in public? I don't remember her ever posting a list. Unlike what we see in this era of social media this may just be a case of a player who isn't telling the world what she is thinking every day.
