I was more impress with the player who is undeclared.

The rest....This game is mostly filled with ballhogs trying to look their best under the spotlight.

I mean do the coaches even teach or coach at all?

But they are highschoolers.......Dangerfield seem to pace herself. Her teaching will come soon under the master-builder. She did pass the BALL unlike most.

Amber R. was more concern with jacking up points.

I always take all-star games for what they are... opportunities for elite players to show that they are the MOST elite of the elites. With that said, when I'm watching all-star games, like the McDAAG, I'm not particularly looking for passive team players.. I mean, it's nice and all.. but I'm looking for attitude, swagger, big time shooters, lock down defenders and basically anything else that tells me more about those player personalities BEFORE they arrive at a college program..

That way, I can judge and see how much better they become as a player after matriculation. And it's always nice to see what kind of weapons your rivals are arming themselves with or talent your own team might've missed out on (not as nice )

Ionescu had a few assists and should have had a few more if people made their shots. Yeah, she shot a lot but I honestly thought she was open pretty much every time she shot (maybe minus that last step-back when she was just feeling it). Wouldn't be so quick to tar her with the "ball hog" brush.

If she was open, she was shooting immediately. There was little thought of sharing the ball. It seemed as if she forgot that she had a slew of AAs around her and thought that she was playing for her HS team, where I can only imagine that she shot a lot.

But don't get me wrong, the girl is talented and is going to be a great college player.

Amazing to see that some players took 20, 18, 17, 15 shots. It seems like there are always a few players in all-star games that use it as an opportunity to jack up shots and be the best on the floor and then some of the other players think that the game is going to be a team-oriented game.

UCONN is certainly getting a good one in Dangerfield. I like her interview and she seems like a nice young lady who has a good head on her shoulders.

Joyner Holmes sure looks to have a lot of talent but she shot a lot (18 shots) and only made 5 field goals. But you can see the athleticism and talent and she will be tough to handle in college. Too bad that Ramirez is going to TCU where she will not have much top talent surrounding her. She will certainly get her chances to shoot a lot.

Notre Dame is going to be the team to beat next year, IMO. I was really impressed with the players they had in the game. And it hurts me to say, but Louisville is getting some really good talent in the post.

This was not the type of game in which Cox is going to shine. She is strong fundamentally and thank goodness she has a face-up game. Her form on the one three pointer she shot was perfect. Plus she had 10 rebounds and 4 blocks.

Fingall was excellent and is also going to be a great college players.

Lots of good points here. I, too, came away thinking that Louisville was getting solid help at the post with Ciera Johnson and Kylee Shook. Was impressed with Johnson's all-round game and composure and Shook showed quick jumping ability and good hands. Having them in paint will make Hines-Allen even more dangerous.

Amber Ramirez is a really good 3 point shooter, she's either going to be wasted at TCU or end up carrying that team to the next level.. Sabrina Ionescu took a while to warm up but she looks great.

I like Kaila Charles (Maryland).. she's a tough rebounder. She's gonna fit in perfectly in Frese's offense/defense.

I'm still waiting on Lauren Cox to show us why she's the number 1 player in the class.

Unless TCU has other top level recruits, Amber Ramirez won't come close to playing in a final four. What a waste of talent!

My thoughts on a few who stood out:

Cox – Thought she looked a little bit ponderous at first but played a nice center’s game of rebounding and shot-blocking and then hit that clutch 3 late

Holmes – Wowed me with her athletic ability but she took too many jump shots for my liking

Young – Great all around game, mostly guarded Chou and kept her totally quiet while being efficient on offense (7-13 FG) and hitting the boards (10 rebounds).

Boley – Didn’t shoot overly well but I liked her shot selection and the way she ran the floor. Had some nice passes too.

Dangerfield – Looked very poise in a game ruled by chaos, had some really nice passes. She and Boley had great chemistry all night. Not only did she find her on the oop but they worked a nice pick-and-pop play for Boley’s only 3 of the night. Would not be surprised at all to see her start sooner rather than later.

Slocum – Great handle, really quick, not so sure about her decision-making, though. Reminded me of Shoni in that she can do the spectacular but botch the routine – ex. Young flashed backdoor and should have had an easy layup but Slocum rocketed the pass into the seats.

Ramirez – Looks like the type that will score 20+ a game on 38% shooting. Don’t know if she played any defense. I know it’s an all star game but most people at least pretend to d up in the half court.

Ionescu – Everything she does is crisp and fluid. Just the way she carries herself and moves on the court screams to me “great player”. A bit like Taurasi in that way, for me, though obviously she has a long way to go on that comp!

Johnson – Had a nice game as a true center. But she will have to learn to keep people from getting into her body. She had 3 fouls in a game where the refs really didn’t want to call fouls. Cox was much more effective at maintaining separation and reaching out to block shots.

Not all shots are the same. Shots taken after receiving a great pass ARE part of the team concept. To pass up a good shot might just cost someone else an assist. (Of course the exception would be if the second pass gets someone else an even easier shot.) But shots that are not in the rhythm of the game and are low percentage are bad. And there were plenty of those in the game. There were also lots of good shots taken where the player was clearly fouled, but the mugging had to be egregious to get called last night. That contributed to poor shooting stats as well.

I think the talent would be wasted almost everywhere, because "sauce" has too much "me" in her game. It is unknown whether she could be satisfied being a cog on a championship caliber team. At least at TCU she will be the star and they'll want her taking bucket loads of shots.

I think All-Star games need to be taken with a grain of salt, because of their artificial nature. But it is interesting to see players against their peers, especially for the first time. As a UConn fan, I'm pleased that Crystal had 6 assists. As Geno reminds us, shooting the ball well/poorly doesn't equate to playing well/poorly. That said, some kids had impressive stats.
