In'N'Out Burger is the best IMO. All beef ground fresh same day onsite. Potatoes cut into fries right in front of you. 3 items on the menu: #1 single burger, #2 single cheeseburger, #3 double cheeseburger - that's it. Have never been to any In'N'Out when there wasn't a long line - if it's lunchtime or dinnertime the line is always out the door. But they're so efficient the line moves fast (ever work in a factory that only makes 3 part numbers - AND hires intelligent help for good wages and benefits?). They refuse to franchise or be publicly owned, so they're only in 5-6 Western states so far. But huge cult following, including movie stars in Hollywood.
WhataBurger beef is soooooo Fresh that they grind it off the male cow they keep in the back---not Bull~~

You could at least mention which Western state, cities you've found them in---a great burger is rare (no pun intended)
far too often they are made out of carbboard frozen patties. Intelligence is nice, people who think on their own is better, they make decisions on the spot.

Just have a Whataburger and you will never eat any of those others again.

I ate at a whataburger back in the mid 1990s in Illinois.... it didnt leave a lasting impression on me. Its a moot point anyhow..... they dont have any locations here in NC.

If you want chicken fast food - Pollo Tropical is great - open flame grilled right behind the counter. All over FL and have moved into Texas, and few other southern states. They also grill racks of ribs. The sides are Cuban inspired, and they have various sauces for adding on. The only frequent fast food stop I have made in years - being diabetic, white breads and batter fried stuff is low on my diet.
