Figured there would be a thread up on this by now?

http://courantblogs.com/uconn-footb...talks-about-scott-mccummings-the-complete-qb/

A couple of things I noted:
- "In our previous system he was a wildcat QB" - isn't it nice to hear the words "previous system"?
- "We still have elements of that in our offense" - does this mean more designed runs for Whitmer? - not sure how many more hits that guy can take
- This also seems to answer the question of what QB's will play in Blue-White - all three and not just Whitmer and Cochrane (barring injuries)
- Question now becomes what the depth chart at QB looks like next year and I would have to assume it will end up Whitmer, Cochrane, McCummings - if McCummings beats out Cochrane for backup then I don't think that will be a very good sign

Biggest takeaway to me is no more substitutions in the middle of a drive, bringing in a different QB with a different cadence, etc. Nice to know.

McCummings was not our wildcat QB as we do not run the wildcat. When will our QB coach get his act together. Sheesh......

I interpreted the article to mean that backup QB is up for grabs, even though most have assumed it would be CC.

I interpret the article to mean that if you expect freshman QBs to redshirt and if it's intolerable to enter a season with only 2 QBs who can play, you'd better try to develop McCummings into a QB who can play.

Oh my goodness. The Dez fetish with McCummings continues. Instead of asking a more pointed question about what direction the new offense is going in, Dez takes the time to basically ask day "why isn't Scott our starting QB", and then day goes on to say, in a very nice way, that he's not a good enough QB. Which we all already knew. Awesome reporting. Expecting the new entry to be about why Dwayne Difton and tebucky jones jr are not our 1 and 2 WR.

Relax folks. This is one of those off season pieces where who ever they talk about is a star. And who knows? Maybe McCummings has learned to throw the ball at least moderately effectively. If so, well he could be a weapon. My hope though is that Whitmer comes into spring practice and ends all speculation about the qb position, then he demonstrates his mastery in camp and into the regular season all the way through the bolw season.

Same exact thoughts...his love affair with McCummings is nauseating and continues to erode Dez's credibility as a journalist (which biased reporting is worse, the insufferable coverage of McCummings or biased coverage of PP?)

Yep. I'm surprised it took this long for Dez to get his McCummings piece out. Must be too busy sulking about his beloved fruit losing.
