Embarrassing! It looks like the B12 needs to pick up about 6 MBB championships to keep up with the P5 Joneses (all of which other P5s have a minimum of 11 - B12 has 5).

Oh, unrelated note, the 1961 and 62 championships credited to the AAC below are Cincy's.

Clearly we all know where they can pick up 4 in quick fashion. If we did this for the women's side they could probably take the lead.

If you are of the belief than 1945 shouldn't count, since we were still fighting WWII, we have as many as the whole Big 12 all by our lonesomes.

I thought when this topic is brought up, usually the conference that the team is a member of at the time of the Championship gets the credit. Seeing as '99,'04, and '11 we were still in the Big East, the BE is credited. I may be wrong and welcome a definitive answer/clarification.

Yes, but technically, we never changed leagues. Our league just changed names.

.-.
And the AAC should be credited with championships in 1984, 1985, 2003, 2013, less 1961 and 1962. 8 Total.

Remember that the American is the old Big East conference. Aresco sold the name, but NCAA credits stayed with the conference. The league who bought the name the Big East has no legitimate claim to our natties or anyone elses.
