That and the no transfers things is a good sign.
But I think we need to recognize that UConn is gunning for a higher level of player than URI. Even when ego isn't involved, sometimes transfers can be a business decision at this level.
I think it’s more accurate to say that, while at URI, they never lost anyone to transfer that they didn’t want to lose. Three players that still had eligibility remaining left URI under Hurley.
Butler, from the 2013 class, left after two seasons to transfer to UT- Martin. Two others (Minnis to Wright State, Reischel to Eastern Kentucky) left as graduate transfers. They were part of his first recruiting class at URI (2012) and weren’t going to get many minutes as better players had been brought in, so they each chose to play their last season somewhere else.
