I saw a post from UCONN on fb listing 8 husky alumni invited to USAB training camps for the world cup... did not list Maya Moore. Anyone have any insights to this? Or do you think it was a typo?

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Seven UConn women's basketball team alums and current senior Napheesa Collierearned invitations to the 2018 USA Basketball Women's National Team training camp ahead of the 2018 FIBA World Cup, as announced by USA Basketball Saturday.

Joining Collier are former Huskies Sue Bird, Tina Charles, Stefanie Dolson, Tiffany Hayes, Breanna Stewart, Diana Taurasi and Morgan Tuck.

Bird, Hayes, Stewart and Taurasi are currently competing in the WNBA playoffs and may join the team following the conclusion of their seasons. Charles, Collier, Dolson and Tuck have confirmed their participation in the USA training camp.

The training camp will be held in Columbia, S.C., and is the tip-off of the team's final preparations for the World Cup. Following two days of practice, the USA squad will compete in a Red-White intrasquad exhibition at Colonia Life Arena in Columbia on Sept. 5.

Traveling up the coast to Bridgeport, Connecticut, the USA continues its exhibition schedule with a 7 p.m. (EDT) game against Canada on Sept. 8 at Webster Bank Arena, and closes out its domestic tour against Japan at 7 p.m. on Sept. 10 at George Washington University's Charles E. Smith Center in Washington, D.C.

Former Husky Jennifer Rizzotti is an assistant for the U.S. National Team at the World Cup. UConn head coach Geno Auriemma, who coached USA teams to gold medals at the past two Olympics and FIBA World Cups, serves as a special advisor.

Per Carl Adamec's recent article, Geno says there may be withdrawals from participating in the World Cup. It's possible Maya will be one of them. She was clearly not herself this past season and physically may need a break.

Nobody is listed on the full list from Minnesota, so it’s looking like a Minnesota thing. It could be they are just late in confirming.

I’m sure that Maya is injured. The question is how seriously. Her play for Minnesota was erratic and not at her usual level. There wasn’t any obvious limp, but she was slower.

In the past she had some issues with a hip and also upper hamstring on one leg, IIRC. Been awhile. Could be something entirely different this time, guess we’ll wait and see.

I asked a friend in Minnesota if he knew anything. He's not a WBB fan, so this is vague. He said a friend told him that all the starters played with injuries this year. I'm trying to get more info. We know about Sylvia's elbow, Lindsay's conditioning, and Rebekkah's injury, but no details on the others.

Maya has put it on the line in every game from the WNBA to China and the olympics since college. Throughout, she has sacrificed her body in so many ways on the court. She never pouts or has tantrums with the refs. She just wins. Now, with a mediocre season, Lobo and all the other talking heads just disregard her. But she only needs rest after that tremendous run. She needs to take a year off and come back and show everyone that the real GOAT is back.

Maya is the face of women's basketball. She walks on water. 2020 is her choice. Jordan was never rejected.
