Per Jim Fuller (Linkster had this link in today's news)

This is great news for Maya, and IMO not surprising at all as far as next season is concerned. But signing a 3-year deal has got to be very nice given the current economic uncertainties in most of Europe by comparison.

Maya was reportedly making mid six-figures in her first season (we know Cambage pulled down around $400K, so I had guessed Maya was in the $500K-$600K range.) The fact that she is now the Invincible Queen over there (p.s. the sportswriters also talk about her looks: "And so beautiful, too...not fair!") and the fact they went ahead and offered her 3 years tells me she will be making some SUBSTANTIAL dineros, dollars, yuan, whatever you wanna call it...! The big names over in Europe still pull down a cool $million (think DT, CP3, etc.). Perhaps Maya is now in that league as well.

The power of her celebrity over there is really growing by leaps and bounds. Her tie-in with the Jordan brand has got to be a big additional factor in the negotiations, and what's more, per Jim's linked article, the Shanxi team owner is apparently trying to get Lynx games and other WNBA games shown over in China:

"[Shanxi owner] also mentioned he is trying to persuade local Shanxi television to show WNBA, specifically Minnesota Lynx, games during the summer."

I could not be happier for the professional and financial success of Miss Maya A. Moore. Could it happen to a better person? I think not.

Great news for Maya. She is one of my all-time favorite Huskies. I am glad to see her doing so well and wish her nothing but more success in her future endeavors. The best has yet to come for this young lady.

I think back to the story shared by an Atlanta-area poster here on the 'Yard last year (?), about how Maya's coach went back to the gym one evening to double check that it had been locked, only to find Maya doing suicide drills alone in the dark.

God blessed her with great talents, but she has done Him proud. She has earned her success.

I think this is great news not just on financial front but also from the physical side of the profession. The European league year is so long and the Chinese one is much shorter - Maya is basically getting two months for her body to recuperate compared to the players in Europe who go straight from WNBA to Europe to WNBA every year (unless they are injured and take the fall off a la Sue.)
And as far as money - Jordan brand has got to be loving the fact that their star female spokesperson is now the 'Invincible Queen' in the worlds most populous country. Got to believe that is worth a few more dollars on her endorsement contract!

A big +1 on that one...!! The rest is so important. She is smart and fortunate to be in this situation with Shanxi.

And I agree - Nike and Mr. Jordan are surely well-pleased with the developments.....:D

So let me see if I have this right: Maya averaged 37.3 points per game in the regular season and then RAISED her scoring in the post-season?
