OT: Masters…who you got?

The shot that I really don’t understand is how you don’t hit the green from 85 yds on 13? If you miss you miss long.

He played conservatively by laying up….and still screwed up.

No one but Tory can understand the pressure of what he just went through. He said it was the hardest round of his life. He’s been great but he could get really hot now that the pressure is off.

Rory is not one of my favorite golfers, but I have to credit him with making shots when he needed them most: those 2 rediculous shots out of the trees, and, the approach shots on 15, 17 and the playoff hole. Simply amazing shots under pressure.

He puked that thing up 3 times. The golf gods dragged him across the finish line

J Rose would have been a worthy champ. 10 birdies on masters Sunday is amazing
And the only things J Rose will be rememberd for (until he finally wins a Masters) is 1) missing the putt on 17, and 2) losing in the playoff to Rory. If he made that putt he would have probably won rather than a playoff, and had himself a green jacket.

It was 6 feet. He missed low on 15, 18 and low on 18 at Pinehurst. Nervy.

Maybe this win gets the monkey off his back and frees him up. His mid/short iron game can be on par with his prodigious driving and long iron ability. He may be primed for a 2-3 year run

Lots of folks predicting same. He hasn’t won a major in 11 years (that’s hard to believe) and Masters was his white whale.

It makes sense that now the pressure is off he can just relax and play

And the next major is a course he has 4 wins!

The crazy thing with Rory is he is almost 36.

He won four majors before he was 25. And then he had a decade drought during an age period when most golfers achieve their best performances.

He now has five majors. The list of those with five is impressive. It includes Koepka, Ballesteros, and Byron Nelson.
Six majors- Mickelson, Faldo, Trevino.
Seven- Varden, Snead, Sarazen, Jones, Arnie.
Eight- Watson
Nine- Player and Hogan.

I don't think anyone believes it is out of his ability to win 2-4 more majors over next 6-7 years.

7-9 majors total and the career slam puts him in convo for top 5 all-time.

All while adding nothing to his resume for a decade in his prime.

It's tough to find any comp in any sport for doing what he did.

Yeah sure. That’s what everyone said about Paddleball, 30 years ago. Lol. Pickelball is fun to play and much easier to play well than tennis is, but so is Ping Pong, racquetball, squash, badminton and croquet. Take a tennis lesson, and maybe the light will go on for you. I don’t see ESPN, CBS, or NBC preempting hours of air time for Pickleball Tournaments like they do for Wimbledon, The French Open, The Australian Open or The US Open. Maybe the next Richard Williams should school his two young daughters in Pickelball instead? Show me one high school or middle school in the state of Connecticut that has pickelball courts, or Pickelball teams.
Interesting espn home page today….
