According to the local news the UMD sports department will lose 4.5 million this year.

Why is Maryland losing all that money? Is this early fallout from stupid conference over-expansion? You'd have to think that sending your volleyball, soccer, field hockey, etc etc teams to Miami and Boston for games eats up quite a bit of money very unnecessarily, particularly if you aren't making money at Football games anyway.
