Apparently Mars will be closer to Earth tonight than it will be for the next 15 years. Why am I just hearing about this now? Anyone out there on top of this?

Yep. We both travel in elliptical orbits (ovals not circles). When Mars is at its closest to the sun in it's oval and we we pass inbetween...viola. Missed it by this much.

Three nights ago, it was very close to the moon, like two feet away in the sky, just off to the left. I knew it was a planet; visually it was very cool.

3 Muskateers, Milky Ways, Snickers, Twix, M&M's and Dove. All top of the line max trading value halloween candy.

You can keep the sugary Skittles, Life Savers and Starburst.

I can get to Mars in about 40 minutes. I can get to Moon in about 20.

Call me the space cowboy...
Driving home from Wallingford to Durham (eastbound) on Saturday night the moon was huge with red Mars at two o'clock. It was hard not to stare. Once home...too much foliage.

Did anyone just see Giancarlo Stanton's second home run tonight put a dent in the moon? Lower right quadrant?

They make good candy bars. I'll give them that.
