Same here. The Huskies had a long flight home and maybe just wanted to get going. The newspapers did pick up some postgame comments from Geno. But that may have just been catching up with him immediately after the game on the way to the locker room. Can't seem to find any post-game interviews. Am I missing something?
if 'that jana' -- assuming your assesment of her pre-injury play is near to accurate -- revives then WOW. the team sure would enjoy such a jana. When you look at film of Jana right before her injury, she was a beast, hitting threes, mid game strong, moved very quickly. She was exactly what we needed. Her injury caused her to bulk up a bit and she lost quickness and confidence. She looked better this game, working hard, moving out to guard on switches. That "Jana" is still there, she just needs to make a statement with her game and take the starting spot by showing in practice and the next few games that she can give us what we need to complete number 13.
FWIW i have feel this way since novemberHere’s a question: does Azzi seem quicker than before?
Over the last few games she has just seemed jet-powered. I wonder if her legs feel stronger now, that maybe she’s feeling freer in stretching out her legs on the break and stepping into passing lanes, not to mention the quick was required for that golden pop-up jumper.
Concerning Ash's fall on K9's beautiful pass...the result of a wet/slippery spot on the floor. Those Golden Eagles "mop up" crew members were theA few points:
I love Kayleigh’s game…she came in and made a remarkable pass to Ash who inexplicably fell and ruined the assist…but thereafter: committed a dumb foul and in overplaying, let 2 players race by her for uncontested layups…I wonder if Geno will modify her style in this regard or accept it for the potential positives…Not her best game for sure.
When Geno accepted Serah, I’m quite sure that he felt that he had solved his “bigs” problem. It sure hasn’t worked out that way…Although (at times) she moves to the basket more confidently and aggressively w/o the myriad fakes and moves which tend only to enable the defense…her rebounding, presence and D are not quite what the doctor ordered. I’m not sure the staff knows what to make of it…and Jana hasn’t quite stepped up to make a difference…a dilemma.
If either Kayleigh, Ash, or Allie had had a better game offensively, then the overall performance wouldn’t have looked so dreadful…but they didn’t..
I’m sure Geno told Sarah at half-time…forget about outside shots and maneuvering into the mid-range…Just stay near the bucket and we’ll get you the ball.
take layups…she did, they got her the ball and it pretty much saved the game.

In speaking of Azzi, you should never use the words legs and break in the same sentence. Here’s a question: does Azzi seem quicker than before?

How many games this season has UConn been out rebounded and what percentage of those games have they lost?I love your posts on this thread. Great job.
The team has it's best player their clear PF / center best rebounder clearly under the weather for several consecutive games.
Thiri 3rd best player, their only significant backup pf out for several consecutive games too.
Yeah - no kidding we are getting beat on the boards. Allie and Ashey are not rebounding power forwards. Hardly the type of lineup we are going to use much vs Texas etc.
Doooooooooooooooooooooomed.I believe the two biggest obstacles to UConn winning the NC this season are the two "I"s, injuries and illness. I believe a completely healthy UConn team will win it all if Blanca is playing.
I’m not sure why there was not more of an effort to find Allie yesterday. I realize they can’t get the ball to her (or Azzi) every time they’re open but I saw Allie several times standing all alone and she never got the ball. I realize she’s not Azzi or Sarah but I think she’s shown herself capable of blowing a game open so I would have thought she might be a priority in a game like this. She did have one opportunity beyond her two misses but (probably wisely) passed it to the hot shooter in Azzi! It was a weird game and one that I’m glad is safely behind us!The team does have a third scorer, in fact they also have a fourth. Blanca and Allie have shown the ability to score big time, so maybe we should be patient until we are completely healthy. One thing that is concerning to me is why Allie only took 2 shots in 25 minutes on the court. This game was painful to watch, but fortunately we can go through the season with stinkers because of the poor play of the BE. We may not be undefeated if we were in another conference, but I would rather play meaningful games and possibly lose once in a while then just roll through everyone we face. UConn is too good for the BE, and that is a problem that nobody in the country has to navigate in their respective conferences. From the outside, this is a weird situation. I guess it is better to win boringly instead of losing excitingly. LOL
Agreed! I was actually concerned for the safety of the players. Not sure what caused it but that floor was definitely a problem.Concerning Ash's fall on K9's beautiful pass...the result of a wet/slippery spot on the floor. Those Golden Eagles "mop up" crew members were the
"Magic sauce" to Marquette master game plan (i.e. there were a number of
'Slip ups" in this game (IMHO).
I would love to see some data that shows that Jana has been better than Serah over the last N games where N>1. Until then, people are just seeing what they want to see. Maybe the people advocating this are one of the people that vastly overhyped Jana before she ever played a single game at UConn. Or, maybe, they are one of the people that hates the portal and thinks we should never use it. Regardless, I have seen nothing that leads me to believe that Serah should be replaced by Jana. If someone wants to make the argument that Geno should play Sarah, Azzi, and Blanca more and Serah less, that is an argument I can understand. It makes us small but, for some games, that might make a lot of sense. But, Jana? No.if 'that jana' -- assuming your assesment of her pre-injury play is near to accurate -- revives then WOW. the team sure would enjoy such a jana.
but "that jana" has not recovered yet. if such a player once existed, why haven't uconn's hall of fame coaches succeeded in bringing her forth after nearly 3 years of diagnosis and treatment to resurrect her former self? do they bear some responsibility for this?
I find it astounding that people put a national championship solely on the shoulders (no pun intended) of a freshman and have little to no confidence in the rest of the players.I believe a completely healthy UConn team will win it all if Blanca is playing.
Combined?:How many games this season has UConn been out rebounded and what percentage of those games have they lost?
You are not understanding the point. There is confidence in the rest of the players but, Blanca is a catalyst that helps get the team out of their offensive doldrums. Just as Aubrey Griffin did.I find it astounding that people put a national championship solely on the shoulders (no pun intended) of a freshman and have little to no confidence in the rest of the players.
That Jana never existed ! - so you can't lay that on the coaches. Jana plays with great spirit and continues to improve somewhat but is limited by bad hands and sub-par feet, the two things that great posts have to possess (think Naphessa Collier). Still, it is great to have her available and she could yet play a key role in a final 4 stacked with bigs, as Jana can bang with the best of them, and should continue to improve for next year as well. Perhaps better If we would stop asking Jana to be something she wasn't / isn't, and just enjoy what she is, with whatever improvement to comeif 'that jana' -- assuming your assesment of her pre-injury play is near to accurate -- revives then WOW. the team sure would enjoy such a jana.

I hope this is not your way of saying that Blanca will not be back.Doooooooooooooooooooooomed.
(requisite post)
No, I think he (or she) thinks that every morning when he wakes up.I hope this is not your way of saying that Blanca will not be back.

The doooooooooomed post is necessary to counter any bad mojo about players' or team situations. 😁No, I think he (or she) thinks that every morning when he wakes up.
Geno said before that her injury wasnt as bad as the first time she was out. She only missed 2 games then, so which is it? She has missed 6 games now with an injury that isn't that bad. Common sense will tell you to wait something isn't right. College sports have historically lacked uniform standards, allowing coaches to use vague terminology like "upper body" or "day-to-day" to keep opposing teams guessing. I bet you still think Ice and Morgan are still hurt or injured as well. I think he planned to redshirt them all along since he has to many players in the rotation.your last comment is just silly
The coach has been very clear that she’s very close to coming back and it was possible she would have played today
