I hear what you say hoop and I agree to a large extent but we still to play at minimum, adequate perimeter defense. It is hard to play zone if the other team can pass the ball well.
It is very helpful that we will have the best player on the floor: the best scorer and the best passer. Usually you win or at least have a great chance at winning when you have both of those advantages and we will have them in every game we play.
I hear what you are saying regarding perimeter defense. But it also comes down to an ability to make shots too. This was a huge problem for UCONN, right? We were a good passing team but we needed -- and who knows may still need- someone like Saylor for the future?
It's not just UCONN that can struggle to shoot regardless how well they pass.
