He’s also taken the most shots of anyone on this team.

I think the point is obvious. When he’s not shooting it well, he can be a liability, especially with his defensive struggles. I’d love to see him take more midrange shots or go to the hoop rather than trying to shoot himself out of his shooting slump.
The point should be obvious, at least to anyone who has been paying attention this year. Sure there are games he settles for too many 3's and doesn't contribute much. But the idea that our leading scorer hasn't contributed anything beyond shooting in a year he's been a bad shooter is idiotic. He's done exactly what you are asking in a lot of games, particularly early in the season

How is Hurley and UConn going to play against a zone defense? They couldn’t handle it today, and they surely will face it in the tournament.

Let’s lock up that #2 in the east
After this loss it’s possible. At this point for entertainment value might prefer a Duke matchup vs Fl again. We’re due. This team feels like it needs that ahead of them to find a way to drum up the fire.

Karaban, Solo, Mullins & Silas hit their 3's. If they don't, we have bigger problems that the zone

The team didn't seem to show up today, that's what the box score told me

I’m personally glad we had a shooting game like this today rather than in the NCAA tournament. While I’d love to win the BE tournament it’s not as big of a deal as the NCAA. No way are we going to have a shooting game like that again…never have loved the early games for college kids. The coaching staff needed to have them better prepared, but we can bounce back just like we did after the Creighton loss. We always seem to play better out of conference so we will see.

What a dumb game. Really bad loss. Marquette didn’t play exceptionally well, the only way UConn loses that game is if they decide not to show up. And they decided not to show up

Tarris was unstoppable in the first half and came out ready to dominate the second half with two early buckets. Did he even get a touch in the post after that?

Absolutely nothing from Solo, Braylon, and AK. Something like 3-20 from three. Not on mostly contested shots either. Lot of wide open clanks. Karaban came off a heroic senior night performance right into 0 FGMs despite playing the entire game

Silas tried to take over and almost succeeded when we decided Tarris couldn’t have the ball. Ross played decent off the bench. Everyone else didn’t show up

Embarrassing! Regroup and crush the BET. It’s tournament time, can’t afford any other games like this

Folks chalking this up as some fluke bad shooting night(against the worst team in the conf no less) that can't happen again are setting themselves up for disappointment. It's happened multiple times, this wasn't a "let's get it out of our system" type performance.

But we won some games in November…..
Solo/Mullins/AK have pulled this multiple times and literally did it the first time they played Marquette @ home, I don't know where they find the faith. Best hope is that they figure out the middle of the floor is also available before they go down in flames doing the same thing they did against Florida last year, just sub out Mullins for McNeeley.

Glad we got that shooting performance out of the way. This game was mostly meaningless. Let’s win the BE tournament and do what we do best.
But is Danny going to be ok? Was afraid he was going to stroke out.

Has Dan Hurley lost this team? They pulled out an absolute stinker of a game where they were playing for, at worst, a share of the BE regular season championship. I’m going to get killed for asking it but it needs to be asked.

And everyone should remember, we aren't 20-10 BYU who paid millions for A.J. for one year of nothing (from where they started anyway).

Turd of a game but this is the same team that just obliterated the Johnies.

I don't watch much NBA, so have to ask those who do: is Mullins a legit lottery pick? Doesn't seem like it to me. Needs another year here in my view.

That’s true but it is also true that Marquette is a legitimately bad basketball team. The #4 team in the country should dispatch a team at their level with relative ease.
Playing poor this year but I wouldn't call them legitimately bad. They aren't playing in the MAC or America East and sit at 12-19.

Worst loss since NM St. This was a last place team. Spare me on the 27-4 angle, we have a target on our back stuff.

Been saying it for awhile, but it's the same team as last year, plus Silas. Silas a very good player, but not a conductor. Hass wasn't the player Silas is, but team felt much more connected offensively when he was healthy.

Low BBIQ bb team. What was AK doing in the back court on that last possession? He's supposed to be this decorated floor general, but you see plays like that and inbounds plays and it's all head scratching.

Abandoned Tarris yet again, when it was all that was working because our entire offense is slinging threes and they weren't dropping today. This is where your PG needs to see that and make sure he gets touches.

Our bench....... Ross contributes buy egads with Reibe and Smith. Why Reibe couldn't show something against Ben Gold. He was -13. Hurley needs to really find a good alternative at the 5 to Reibe for next year. Been a Reibe fan, but it feels like he's regressed.

Solo does no little things well. We have another year of that coming.

Danny recruiting or bringing back all these shooters, imbalanced roster building. We don't need stand up shooters 2-4. Find us a Nigel James level player. Marquette look well set up for next year with a core of Parham, Stevens and James.

Let's finally put to bed the November wins as a point of reference.

Losing this game told me straight up Dan Hurley has no rabbits in his hat. This team is very much what it is.

Some thoughts on your Solo comments above. Solo primarily provides three-point shooting offense. Thinking about our guards over the last 5 years, he's comparable to Jordan Hawkins, who probably was a more consistent shooter in his second year as a starter. In this, his second year as a starter, in addition to shooting threes, Solo has expanded his game by driving more for layups and taking some pull-ups for twos. Stephon Castle was both a great physical athlete and mature-playing defensive and offensive guard as a freshman. Cam Spencer was a strong-willed veteran and complete starting guard, offensively and defensively. During crunch times in games, Solo appears to have a tendency to quickly chuck up shots, maybe because he's most confident that's his best way to make an impact. Sometime, between the 11 and 4-minute mark in the second half today, while there was still time to pull out a win over Marquette, there were three instances where I felt that Solo hurried up shots (two deep, quick-trigger threes off picks and a pull-up that all unfortunately missed).

As others have mentioned, our players and coaches all seemed to abandon the first half strategy to get the ball to Reed closer to the basket!

IMO this team doesn’t have half the talent as the 2006 team squandered away that afternoon vs George Mason. Hell, that team sent five guys to the NBA, and Rashad Anderson wasn’t one of them.
Yes, as I said earlier the ‘06 team had a lot more talent but had the same maddening tendency to play down to its opponent’s level.

If he has a good next few weeks probably. But the questions will start creeping up if he's not shooting more efficiently soon
