I’m at the point where I feel we are limited with him as our starting two as you essentially have to hide him, he’s so bad at defense and other phases of the game. His best role was likely always coming off the bench for quick bursts of points. He just doesn’t make winning plays and makes a ton of losing mistakes.

I agree. If your starting 2G is a 31% shooter, they better be someone who can help facilitate, get to the hoop, and play D. Solo is now 63/205 from three this year.

This team can lose in any round of the tourney. They just aren’t that good that they can give a half effort and miss 3s. How this screws with their heads will be interesting to see to say the least.

Probably best if Hurley avoids a microphone until Wednesday
Disagree. I’d like to see him take accountability for the mess he presided over and allowed to continue without change or adjustment today. Followed up by turning into a complete jackass after it was decided.

I prefer to keep him and Mullins separate for far longer than we currently do.

I don't want to bury Solo - there are some areas where he is clearly preferable to Mullins. We have trouble getting to the throw line - we never get there when Solo is off the floor. BM has taken like 20 free throws this year.

I get it. They’re redundant players. Just think Mullins is less of a sieve defensively and gives us more off the bounce, lack of FTs notwithstanding

Yea a real bottom feeder. Beat Kansas in Phog Allen Fieldhouse, beat Florida, beat Illinois, beat BYU when they were completely healthy! I hope you are being sarcastic because if your not you sound like a real Dope!
In November and December. Lots has changed since then. We have struggled against legitimately bad teams. Lost to 2. Remember when folks here were getting all upset because Michigan was ranked higher after losing to a solid Wisconsin team?

This one was totally predictable. We have just barely beaten a series of awful opponents sometimes in the final seconds because they made bad plays. Marquette didn’t make those plays today. Our luck ran out.

The problem is if we have a bad shooting game - which as you stated can happen to any team - we are far too one dimensional to consistently overcome it. Running out a 2, 3, and 4 whose primary positive influences are basically completely dependent on hitting 3’s is, again, an issue in roster construction.
But yet we’ve seen Ball, Mullins, & even Karaban capable of doing more than just jacking 3’s at many points during this season.

I can see this team losing the first game of the tourney, but I can also see them reaching the Final Four. Very frustrating situation to be in.

Have we? If solo is not hitting 3s, what is he bringing to the table? Mullins can bring more, but obviously his primary influence his shooting, AK for sure has impact beyond his shooting.

Friday, let Kimani and Luke lead the team in BE quarterfinals.

Glad we got that shooting performance out of the way. This game was mostly meaningless. Let’s win the BE tournament and do what we do best.

Yes. He hasn't been shooting well from 3 all season, yet we just finished the regular season and he's our leading scorer

He’s also taken the most shots of anyone on this team.

I think the point is obvious. When he’s not shooting it well, he can be a liability, especially with his defensive struggles. I’d love to see him take more midrange shots or go to the hoop rather than trying to shoot himself out of his shooting slump.

Team plays every game in a vacuum, I’ve accepted it.

I have no idea what to expect now, there’s no way anyone can confidently say we will lose in any given round, just that expectations should be tempered.

He was still effective in the non conf when his 3 was broke by taking midrange jumpers and finishing at the rim but the shot attempts from midrange and drives to the basket seem to be dwindling more and more as the season has progressed

I legit have no idea what their identity is, at all. It’s game 31. I don’t know who their go to guy is, what their MO is. It’s a very weird team.

The point should be obvious, at least to anyone who has been paying attention this year. Sure there are games he settles for too many 3's and doesn't contribute much. But the idea that our leading scorer hasn't contributed anything beyond shooting in a year he's been a bad shooter is idiotic. He's done exactly what you are asking in a lot of games, particularly early in the season

How is Hurley and UConn going to play against a zone defense? They couldn’t handle it today, and they surely will face it in the tournament.

Let’s lock up that #2 in the east
After this loss it’s possible. At this point for entertainment value might prefer a Duke matchup vs Fl again. We’re due. This team feels like it needs that ahead of them to find a way to drum up the fire.

Karaban, Solo, Mullins & Silas hit their 3's. If they don't, we have bigger problems that the zone

The team didn't seem to show up today, that's what the box score told me

I’m personally glad we had a shooting game like this today rather than in the NCAA tournament. While I’d love to win the BE tournament it’s not as big of a deal as the NCAA. No way are we going to have a shooting game like that again…never have loved the early games for college kids. The coaching staff needed to have them better prepared, but we can bounce back just like we did after the Creighton loss. We always seem to play better out of conference so we will see.
