Don't be angry with me but it was not a foulSilas was fouled...not even a close call! Total joke
Too bad UConn waited until 4 mins left to start playing and let the refs blow the call.
Duke has much more high-end talent. Karaban is a 5th year player and didn’t make a FG todayOther than the STJ game, it’s the way they’ve played much of the last month.
Duke is blowing out its mid-level competition every game, while every UConn matchup goes to the last minute.
I think it’s A. The teams we blew out creighton and Marquette the first time and in both return matches look uninspired. Play a tough game vs St. John’s the first time and come out dominating them. The question at this point is, is this a team that:
A) struggles to get up for bad teams but shows up against great ones?
or
B) just hasn't figured it out and is going to get steamrolled by someone with a pulse
If A, then our ceiling is fine and we should be competitive if we make the second weekend (and stop facing BE teams).
If B, this is going to be a deeply unsatisfying month.
We've won Nattys with a worse seeding, but the team's inconsistency makes it unlikely to string together a 6 game run.Silas and Tarris were good. Not sure why they abandoned the interior and Reed especially when no one could make a shot? Disappointing with a week to prepare, not much to make James think more same ol hedging that didn’t work. Get we’re not winning many shooting it like that no matter. 2/15 seeding upset yikes!!! Alex was exactly the opposite from his senior night.
Not much you can do but get ready for the 2 seed at MSG. Never know, doubt it but let’s see what happens.
Creighton in Gampel should have been the wake up call.Absolutely deserved to lose this game and to get all of the ancillary repercussions that come with it.
Our inability to play games with intensity and purpose all year long finally is having some real repercussions.
Blew an outright big east regular season championship, blew a number one tourney seed, killed any momentum rolling into the tournaments. what a disaster.
Maybe it will be the wake up call that this team finally needs, but I won’t be holding my breath.
At least Tomlin is gone. That's every Steelers team but two since 2008.
Did Marquette do anything different in 2nd half to keep Reed from getting the ball in the post? I didn't notice anything. For the life of me I can't understand why we stopped feeding himTry these stats on:
Tarris was 7-10
We shot 3-23 on 3s
That is the definition of coaching malpractice
Silas was the only "guy" we had today. Even Tarris disappeared in the 2nd.Silas doesn't seem to be the guy.
We were so "off" today.
They won't - hoping for an Elite 8 and then maybe a miracle to get to the F4 in the one game format. We've won Nattys with a worse seeding, but the team's inconsistency makes it unlikely to string together a 6 game run.
It's not the first time it was the obvious move and we abandoned it. Someone on the court has to recognize it, pull the team together and make it priority - AK or Silas. Not sure where the leadership is on this team.Did Marquette do anything different in 2nd half to keep Reed from getting the ball in the post? I didn't notice anything. For the life of me I can't understand why we stopped feeding him
Number one isn't even a question now which is probably a blessing in disguise. We did not want to face Florida. They are playing very well and were projected to be the fifth overall. All good. Doesn't make one iota of a difference what seed we are. All about the matchups.Wrong. #1 is severely in jeopardy if not already gone but we could lose in the quarters and keep the #2 considering how flawed all the projected 2-line teams are (which presumably no longer includes Florida).
No chance we’re a 1 w two quad 3 lossesDef Not if Florida wins out
More on the ball pressure but when we did swing it around Reed was open but not even looking to post up. Hurley just loves the weaves and picks up top even when that isn't doing anything for us. He is one Stubborn coach.Did Marquette do anything different in 2nd half to keep Reed from getting the ball in the post? I didn't notice anything. COACHING MALPRACTICEDid Marquette do anything different in 2nd half to keep Reed from getting the ball in the post? I didn't notice anything. For the life of me I can't understand why we stopped feeding him
Tarris didn't disappear, the coach and team made him disappear.Silas was the only "guy" we had today. Even Tarris disappeared in the 2nd.
Agree with this. Demary is the only guy that can take his guy off the dribble. You need 2 of those on the court at all timesAside from Demary they don’t have a single player that can do that. We’ve prioritized shooting to the extreme. And I think teams have figured out their intricate offense a little bit better, so we don’t get as many easy buckets either.
No but we've got a plan B to avoid "die by the 3" scenarios. His name is Tarris.I mean, who could have anticipated Mullins/Karavan to shoot 1-15 from 3?
I just watched the replay. There was no foul by Gold. He went straight straight up never brought an arm down. Demary just ran into himI had concerns about this game. Marquette coming off a dominant win versus Providence and playing with house money against UConn. Looking at highlights from that game, they looked sharp and athletic. There was no way this was going to be an easy win. No excuses, though. This is a game the Huskies HAVE to win with so much on the line. Very, very disappointing.
I get why Hurley was angry with all the pent up frustration, and then the no-call on the foul by Gold but it should not have come down to that.
Again, the resemblance to ‘06.Softest good UConn team I can remember in terms of physicality, athleticism, intimidation.
