Marquette Game Cancelled

Baylor had their 12/29 game cancelled, hopefully the two schedule each other.

Assuming the Marquette game gets rescheduled (not a sure thing by any means), would adding a Baylor game push us over the max number of games this season?

Thats a good point, my initial reaction was it not getting rescheduled.

I think TPTB would make a bigger effort to reschedule a conference game than a non conference one.

At this point I just hope that we get all of our own players back from the holiday break, with no one needing to be put into the health & safety protocols. We really can't afford to lose another body.

Maybe some enterprising BE team with scheduling room will want to face us before our walking wounded come back and get integrated into the team

I think last year, SH moved up to fill a scheduling hole?

No real upside to this IMHO. The team does need to practice with all the injured players out so they can get better at doing what they need to do, but playing games really puts it to the test. Marquette would be a much easier game to see where we are at before the DePaul game, which comes immediately after.

I think this game, being a conference game, would be rescheduled if humanly possible, even if it means playing back to back games for one of the teams. Marquette has to play Providence at Providence at some point. They can bus over to the XL the next day. (Or St. John, or Seton Hall)

It's only one game canceled (and I'm sure they'll try to make it up if they can) and the next scheduled game vs DePaul is only two days later (12/31). IMO the cons of risking another injury outweigh the pros of playing an unnecessary game. Just keep practicing and get ready for the next game on the schedule.

If non-conference games get cancelled or BE games get cancelled without being made up then they can worry about trying to get more games in. Right now the priority should be getting/keeping everyone healthy. Plenty of games left on the schedule.

UConn Huskies, Kentucky Wildcats have women's basketball games this week called off due to COVID-19 issues with opponents.

The No. 11 UConn and No. 22 Kentucky women's basketball teams both had conference games postponed this week due to COVID-19 issues involving their opponents.

The Huskies' game against visiting Marquette, scheduled for Wednesday, was called off due to COVID-19 issues with the Golden Eagles.

The Wildcats' game Thursday at Auburn also was postponed due to COVID-19 issues with the Tigers.
