Mark Zanetto talking about uconn in the running for a top European center

Wasn't UCONN interested in a big man playing in the Israeli league. About
6-11, 7-1. Young 17 or 19, or am I confusing him with another player? Definitely NOT the player from Israel they have now.

I think its mostly because if anyone has a differing opinions from him on Twitter he gets all internet tough guy like he's going to fight you for disagreeing with him. He's pretty pathetic in numerous ways but the internet tough guy thing is the worst.
Well coward, really. He is the "you don't have enough followers to disagree with me" and then block you type.

Has he learned the names of the players yet? Last I saw he couldn't remember their names or understand what position they played.

Zanetto is just sending out click bait.

How many 7'4" euro players who want to spend next season playing at a US school and are capable of being instant impact do you believe there are? If this person existed and was as advertised we'd know his name.

It's very possible that the staff has found another Elezaj and isn't ready to begin pursuit yet, but I would be amazed if there is an unknown 7'4" instant contributor flying under the radar.

Honestly, other than the one we know about, who isn't it, I looked at rosters did searches and can't even find any 222-223 cm players. So this seems to just be nonsense.

The Big 12 thing was a big part of it for a lot of people, but in general Zanetto is aware that he is in the eyeball business, especially as a startup (when he started the UConn locked on and now his new network). He's ambitious. He knows in the internet age it's often better to be first and be loudest or most controversial than necessarily be right or 100% trustworthy. He can go back and praise himself in an episode after getting something right that people doubted him (dumb people in the comments), but he was right! And his fans will nod and say yeah that's right! Ignoring the 2 or 3 things he said in the same episode that turned out were wrong.

He has people he talks to, but they're generally not close enough to actually get good/timely intel on UConn recruiting/transfers/roster (because UConn is super tight on that stuff). Sometimes he gets something from UConn people, and sometimes he gets stuff from outside of the UConn family that relates to UConn. It's very hit or miss. It's not enough to sustain an "insider" news source, and his basketball analysis isn't rigorous or interesting enough to sustain a basketball show. So he ends up as an entertainment and news aggregation show masquerading as the others. It would be fine if he were more transparent about this, but his presentation is often structured with news breaking language and tone.

Some people don't like the way he teases things and hypes things up (this mystery big an example of that). Some people hate that his twitter is full of typos and weird formatting. Some people just don't like his personality and his lack of editing on his show. I appreciate his hustle, but sometimes the hustle gets him over his skis.
He hears the same things a lot of us hear. Wouldn’t consider him and insider nor would i considet myself one.

The same source has been making their rounds to the same people.

UNC supposedly just signed a 6’-11” kid, 18 years old named Sayon Keita, originally from Mali, playing ball in Spain. Picked UNC over Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, UCONN, according to an article in something called the Tar Heel Wire.

Jongkuch "JK" Mach ? Australia-Listed on different sources between 7'4"-7'6" . 18 yrs old. Plays for BA Centre of Excellence in NBL1 East
This is the guy. At least that’s what I’ve heard.

He definitely won’t challenge to start like Zanetto insinuated

You’re only 3 days late to the party

Luigi Suigo is the only guy who fits the criteria he's talking about and he says it's not him. There's 7'6 JK Mach and some "Indian Wemby" who is terrible.

Zanetto is full of it.

We'll end up bringing in some 6'10 backup power forward and Zanetto will say I told you so.

He’s extremely full of it

I know the staff is looking at Mach. But as a depth piece.

They aren’t recruiting anymore potential starters. Zanetto is just a liar

Yeah JK looks like a project definitely not immediate impact player, but he can dunk without jumping so I guess hes got that going for him 😆

He's the Italian Wemby, not the real one. Sort of like being the tallest building in Des Moines.
The tallest building in Des Moines is 801 Grand. Standing at 630 feet (190 meters) and featuring 45 stories, this skyscraper serves as a prominent landmark in the downtown skyline.
Key Details about 801 Grand:
  • Location: 801 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa.
  • Completion: 1991.
  • Usage: Primarily office space (home to Principal Financial Group).
  • Design: It is known for its distinctive stepped, pyramid-like top.

Are we really taking anything that Nut Zanetto says with any real credence and have a whole thread about it? I wish people never posted anything that egotistical jerk said on here.
Tell em why you really made 🤣🤣🤣🤣

O.K. continuing the derailment because I work in real estate and was interested. That's a pretty good size building outside of the very big cities like NYC, Chicago, LA, etc. Boston only has 6 buildings taller than that. But we don't have very tall buildings here because Logan Airport is so close to the city that the FAA limits height.

I just looked up the building because I was curious. Is that the only tall building in Des Moines? It sticks out like a sore thumb. The next tallest building is 490 feet and after that nothing is taller than about 350 feet.

I’m sure he’s really raw but he looks to be about a trillion times more fluid and athletic than Rioux.

Seems like a cool kid, too.
