Pina Named Rookie of the Year; Four Terriers Named to All-Patriot League Team - Boston University Athletics

"After posting its best season since joining the Patriot League, the Boston University women's basketball team saw four student-athletes earn All-Patriot League honors, the conference announced Friday.
Maggie Pina was named the first Patriot League Rookie of the Year in program history, while Katie Nelson joined Pina on the all-conference team, and Maren Durant and Sydney Johnson secured spots on the all-rookie team. BU's three freshmen mark the first time in league history where three members from the same program have been named to the all-rookie team."

I followed her program all year reading the box score and post-game recaps. She has turned that program around and has it going in the right direction. Now I just hope that she continues to get the support from the administration and local fans/students that she needs going forward.

that blurb about Maggie Pina is a bit misleading. She committed to Villanova for field hockey in April of her junior year. That caused most basketball programs to stop recruiting her. Then after getting a Boston U offer for basketball early in her senior year, she decommitted from Villanova and changed sports as well as colleges. But if she had remained uncommitted from April to August, did a lot of college camps and AAU tournaments, and taken a number of college visits, she almost certainly would have had other offers.

Just as a thought - to get three players on the freshman team probably means that you had very little in terms of returning talent! BU starts 4 freshmen and a sophomore.

For the majority of the season, they started one senior, one junior, one sophomore, and two freshman. But for the final five weeks, the senior went to the bench and a third freshman moved into the starting lineup. Their best player was a junior. They are set up to be very good next year, although they will not be the preseason pick for first.

1. Boston U used to have a very strong women’s basketball program when Kelly Greenberg was their coach, until her behavior blew up the program. Then they made a disastrous hire in Katy Speding and the program fell apart. Moseley should definitely be able to return them to where they were six or seven years ago.

2. She will have no worries as to administration support. Boston U is about four times as large as all of its league competitors and typically spends more on almost every sport then do the other league members. Also Boston U’s location in the hottest college city in America helps with recruiting.
