March Madness Round 1 Thread

Well, just when you want our one mid seed to prove the BE has some life, they let the other team go on a 14-1 run in the home stretch. It is hard to have a lot of pride for the current state of this league. I do think Willard will be a solid coach.

Nelson will here soon to ask you why you hate the Big East so much.

poor showing by villanova. total collapse in last 5 minutes. die by the 3. should have gone to Brennan more. sloppy passing and turnovers. utah had more energy all game. dissapointing big east start.

Knocking a tournament win out of the way with Nova in year 1, would've been a huge deal, against Zona whatever you just have fun and launch 3s. First year Willard just had to do better than Kyle Neptune not exactly a high bar. This was a huge missed opportunity here.

Next year it gets real for Willard as the expectations for Nova are high obviously not at the level of standards at UConn.

Villanova just not that good.

Big East has to expand to get more teans into the tournament. 3 each year is pathetic.
They need to do something to spice things up, I realize the TV rev share is the factor. Would be cool to get St Louis and/or Dayton in. Get one, and you can split it out between BE West and BE East - maybe reduce the schedule by a couple games so you can run a couple OOC games in late Jan/Feb.

Fans these days like creativity and change.

Johnnies impressive
Johnnies physically manhandling Northern Iowa. These men playing against boys on Duke, albeit talented, will be something to watch. I think St. Johns gonna physically beat them up.

It sucks we might have to play them for the 4th time if we both get there.

Am I just getting old, or do refs allow 3 steps a lot now? They have behaved in Iowa/Clemson, but the euro-stepping + 1 was rampant in Utah State/Villanova, and in about 5 games yesterday.

The Iowa player clearly traveled, but did not go out of bounds. The refs called it out of bounds. I think Iowa is getting the ball back despite having clearly traveled.
