March Madness Round 1 Thread

.-.
In watching the 1st Round so far, I love the freedom of movement. We are going to be able to run our offense and get good shots. Two keys are going to be 3 point percentage and turnovers. If we can keep the turnovers to 10 or under, and shoot somewhere between 35-40%, I like our chances. I really do.
As someone said, our guys need to be relaxed and confident, and the constant talk about winning championships seems to have them tight as a drum and missing wide open three's.
We need a joker in the locker room to loosen them up and having fun.

Kennesaw St. not giving up... got to hit your damn free throws though.

Meanwhile, Gonzaga is proving that they were significantly overseeded yet again. They even have a home crowd advantage being in Portland and yet they are in a life and death struggle to put away a team that went 10-10 in Conference USA and just so happened to get hot in their conference tourney.

Good thing the Zags will be moving on to that new Pac-12 next year. Maybe we will see how they do when they have to play San Diego State, Utah State, Colorado State and Boise State twice a year and not that yearly joke of competition in the WCC.

They will struggle with Texas, and if they get by them Purdue will smoke them.

NON-P4 TO 2ND ROUND
12 High Point
11 VCU

P4 NOT MAKING IT TO 2ND ROUND
ACC - 11 NCSt, 11 SMU, 6 UNC
B1G - 5 Wisc, 8 OhioSt
B12 - 6 BYU
This, of course, means we're going to hear ad nauseum about the greatness of the SEC....

Well, Georgia bit the dust badly.

Kind of went how you might expect - pretty chalky, not like last year. Non P4 = High Point, VCU, Zags and St Louis.

For an off-season thread, but I would not be against adding St. Louis to the Big East. Decent size, big city school. St. Louis is one of the biggest cities without an NBA team. Good basketball history. Get an NIL/payroll commitment from them, and I would be on board.
If only we could trade DePaul for st Louis and butler for Dayton.

would have been outstanding if puke choked too. what a disaster the acc is.

Seems like Georgia just wants to go home. St Louis simply beats them to every ball.
For two years in a row now, UGA didn't deserve a bid. These bottom dweller SEC teams coast into bids. Seton Hall is better than UGA. They beat Xavier by 1 at home. Played one good OOC team, Clemson and lost. Then lost almost every game against a good team in the SEC.

6 year extension for Josh Schertz when he's the hottest commodity for other schools. St. Louis has been trying everything to get in the Big East. Could something possibly be in the works?
As the ACC fails again, UConn to ACC becomes more likely and St. Louis is probably the best backfill for us.

Talked to 4 people today who have UConn winning it all and someone kept bringing up that 17 of the past 18 winners are 1 seeds or UConn.

It's nice that so many randos think highly of us.
I hadn't realized that, but that's actually crazy. The only non-1-seed, non-UConn team is #2 Villanova in 2016.
