These High Point guards are seriously fun to watch… and they don’t hesitate to pull the trigger.
VCU gets stompedGonzaga gags again
Non P4 in round 2: 0-2
5 to play
Well now they’re not.I think Duke and UF are both going down in the sweet 16
The sweet 16 is next weekendWell now they’re not.
Reed showed he can be a monster when he feels like it, but not your classic rim protector. And we have to be honest that Alex is anything but an imposing interior presence at the 4 - he his your classic 4 out guy. Mullins is a very small 3.I'm confused here, do you imagine UConn and Hurley haven't had bigs that dominated the position in their two runs? Even last year and this year the bigs weren't exactly an afterthought, they were just too mercurial. Reed showed he can be an absolute monster but...
1000%Let’s also be clear, the P4s and mid majors are both getting destroyed by the top seeds. Texas A&M and TCU both got drubbed the same way St. Louis and VCU did. The mid majors are absolutely getting hurt by NIL and the portal, but if you’re not in the top 10-12 in a given year I think your chances of making a run are getting slimmer every year, P4 or not
Hope we get to speed both teams can play at.These High Point guards are seriously fun to watch… and they don’t hesitate to pull the trigger.

Compare that to what Golden is talking about where Florida has a 6'9" Haugh at the 3, along with Condon & Chen as two 5's. Michigan with their lineup, so on. Houston has Tugler & Cenac.
We should see what Hurley is thinking based on how he handles the 4 in the portal. This talk of Reibe and Stewart would be a pretty limp counter to this type of strategy. If he ever went that direction, I'd start losing confidence in the system fast.

If a MM can make a S16 going forward, it should be as good as a relative NC.
I am really, really glad we don't need to play them. These High Point guards are seriously fun to watch… and they don’t hesitate to pull the trigger.
I am jealous of watching High Point and Vanderbilt at the moment. They are hitting their 3s. I guess that's a me problem.Calipari might start having Gohlke flashbacks

If only we had a team with a big center and a team that is near the top of CBB in rim FG%.Golden nails it - if you want to dominate with the NIL advantage, you're not doing it with finesse, you're doing it with manpower. Hurley, take notice. This is what I've been talking about, Golden confirming it. '
Thanks for sharing - good set of tweets. Hurley needs to start thinking about his strategy because his very recent quote is already outdated and obsolete.
When the top three teams are tossing out Mara/Johnson/Yaxel, Krivos/Peat/Awaka and Ngongba/Boozer/Brown, it's a trend worth noticing.

This is a very evenly matched game.Vanderbilt/Nebraska is pretty crazy.
Hit me up at the end of the tourney and we can break down what is working in today's game and what isn't. If you're not seeing the blanks space in this roster vs the top 4-5 (and StJ) teams, we need to get your pescription adjusted. There will be a consistent theme. We have a 3 and a 4 that play their positions small. I have no issues with Tarris other than his inconsistency and lack of rim protection presence. If only we had a team with a big center and a team that is near the top of CBB in rim FG%.
Oh wait. We do.
Agree that it's height across the roster, but also athletecism. Castle & Jackson were freaks athletically. Height at the 1 and 2 are only important when you have a drop back 5, so then you can keep those talls guard out there guarding the 3 with length. With a 5 like Tarris, less important and staying in front of their man more important. You missed my point on the first two runs.
UConn has had big wings the last three years. Mullins is not big but he is. more of an outlier if you look at UConn's teams over the last four years. Jackson/Castle/McNeeley.
UConn has also had super big guards. It's not just height at the 3-5, its height 1-5.
As the quote says, bigs are the floor raiser. IMO though, guards are the ceiling raiser.
UConn has had a very good floor this year, the issue has been the ceiling has not been raised due to poor shooting (like it or not UConn is now 30-5 and was, at worst, the sixth best team all year long).
EDIT: love Singare is getting time for High Point today btw.
