March General CBB Discussion Thread

St John's is loving the Kansas Houston game right now.

Kansas came out in the second half and is shooting 0 for 18 in the first 9 minutes.

St. John's is thinking: 9 more minutes without a bucket and our record is broken!!

Unfortunately the Kansas -Houston game so far looks like a dud. Houston's defense is suffocating Kansas's offense.

It feels like KU is regressing the more DP integrates. They haven’t been good for awhile now. Pretender.

MSU - pretender.

Nebraska - pretender

Really only 6, maybe 7 contenders.

Down goes Michigan St. Both projected 2 seeds in the Big Ten lose in the quarters. Would have to think Iowa St passed one of them like we discussed when Illinois lost. I would think a Purdue win tomorrow may get them back on the 2 line in place of Michigan St?

ISU had the best loss between them and the 3 BIG teams. Purdue was behind all of them on the s curve as of this morning. Not sure how high they will climb. Maybe it’s down to MSU and Purdue for the last 2 seed, but As long as only 1 BIG team is a 2 seed I don’t care who it is.

Question is, is Houston ahead of UConn on the s-curve going into tomorrow, or do they need to beat Arizona and have UConn lose to St. John's? I would think we are no worse than number 6 on the s-curve, with a 2 seed locked up.

Yeah the whole Darren Peterson aspect and how it affects team chemistry is perplexing. Are they better without him? I don't know, but the fact it can't be considered a ridiculous question speaks volumes.

As far as the teams you listed as pretenders, if that means incapable of winning a title or even getting to the Final Four, then yes. Michigan State's and Nebraska's ceiling looks like Sweet 16 and maybe an Elite 8, but that's pushing it.

I think what I said was that he has all of Hurley's arrogance and none of his likeability. I think that's pretty accurate.
When people rag on Hurley nonstop what gets lost is that he’s a good person. The histrionics and faces attract attention, but there’s heaps of coaches out there who are literal criminals and get whitewashed by the media

puke and houston both rolling. but Oklahoma can upset Arkansas which would be nice. tied at 48 with 14 remaining.

He looks and acts like a little punk, comes across like he could've worked at Stratton Oakmont. Hurley and Cignetti aren't at all bashful but they're funny and interesting. Hurley especially is self-deprecating and open about his struggles which makes him relatable.
Bingo

Contender generally means a team that could win a NC. I'd say there is a hard stop at us - with maaaaaaybe Iowa St behind us.

Some have put Arkansas out there as a sleeper because of guard play, but they play no defense.

We want Florida to lose, not Arkansas.

Why would you sit put at your peak?

In your world, he's already peaked? In his world, he's at a point in his career where he's comfortable and successful enough to bet on himself and wait for the perfect gig to take that next step.

All in all, other than the Kansas dud, good day on the out of town scoreboard plus no bad loss potential left

If St. John's wins by as much as they lost on Feb 25, that would be a really bad loss going into the tournament.

UConn needs a signature win to go into the tournament with a bouncing in their step.

Kansas with a whopping 47 points tonight. They shot 25% from the field. Peterson was 3-11. Which was way better than Council's 1-14.

Council 3-12 last game.

DP's numbers haven't been great. 8-28

This experiment feels like a dud.

Calipari has had guards who were graded as better NBA prospects but none of them were as good as Acuff has been this season.
