March General CBB Discussion Thread

Seems like the kind of injury he'd play through if the ACC tourney mattered.
Maybe, maybe not. He missed 8 games with it earlier in the season that included probably their 2 biggest home games (and they lost both).

Follow the money. It's not going to get better. It's going to become less variable.

I'd like to know how cinderellas have any chance when all the money/talent is going to consolidate in the top 20 teams or so. There are only so many programs out there with enough $$ committed to hoops. P4 will only grow stronger. This isn't 2005. This is a professional sport, like baseball. The difference is that in baseball, a small market team can see lightning strike occasionally through their farm system.

I'd expect May & Scheyer to be top 5 every season.

Crazy they'll get as many bids as the BE.
Purdue had Edey and Ivey plus a few years back which granted was before NIL but high talent as if, lost to cinderella St Peters who had no one making the NBA. Pure Cinderella.

Not sure if NIL and portal change this as the talent was there on many teams Cinderella beat.

That was as cinderella as it gets.

I can't recall that St Pete's roster. Not about NBA as much as it's whether they had any good players that would have portaled out prior to the year.

All B10 team is wild. Yaxel and 4 PGS.

AZ ST losing by 30 to Iowa st with 25 points 30 minutes in.

Conference tourneys can still matter while not mattering as much as march madness. As has always been the case. You can’t help but try to turn everything Into a hot take.

If what Florida is doing now should be discredited for “feasting on a weak league”, shouldn’t the questions be why we didn’t feast on an even weaker league? Multiple weak SEC teams beat up on the 2nd place team in the Big East this year.
1st place, 2nd best team.

Disgusting that we let St. John’s win the conference. Completely discredits the conference even more when this team did not beat a single opponent of importance

It really does, and they lost to a number of teams OOC that aren't even that bood. Kentucky, Bama, Auburn. They had zero, count it, zero, halfway decent OOC wins.

Watching how it plays out in the tourney will be fascinating.

This UConn team still has everything in front of them and can achieve great things. They are 27-4 with a 17-3 Big East record. The starters are very good and the bench has potential, but the bench has to show consistent performance.

However, your post has a lot of validity if not 100% validity. For all the talk about the Big East being weak due to the lack of OOC wins, St. John's was the team that let the Big East down the most. It makes the whole Big East look bad that St. John's won it. UConn had a chance to stop that, but had two terrible losses, one each to Creighton and Marquette.

I remember after UConn destroyed St. John's by 30+ points, which I enjoyed with every fiber of my being, some people here stated it wiped away the Creighton loss. Nope, that stinker of a loss is here to stay. Finishing with a 17-3 record in the Big East is very good, but UConn should've finished with a 19-1 record in the Big East and if I had to bet I believe the players probably have the same sentiment. Here's hoping the sting of the Marquette loss gets UConn on a 9-game heater.

Pettiford reminds me so much of Jeff Teague with the way he plays

Are you trying to start a narrative that kids are sitting out conference tourneys? Do you have any examples of this happening that are not injury related? I don’t pay attention to chatgpt responses but if you have legit examples I’d love to see them.

So you're saying UConn isn't very good? 😀

I'm saying there may be a bit of load management prior to the real tourney, especially for some of these kids that are first round draft picks. Obviously some small injury in there.

There’s always some big take and narrative being thrown around

What specific injury does he have?

Back injury - missed games earlier this season with it.

As you know, back injuries are nothing and never linger and RuffRuff was a locked in lottery pick who fought through huge injuries before, so he’s well-versed on the topic.

Of course that's what he's doing. He takes some players sitting out with injury who may be ready to go for the NCAA's as the conference tournaments don't matter anymore and the players don't care about them.

If UConn loses in the Garden he'll be here saying how awful they were and how much it matters. If Pitino wins it again he'll really hammer away at how much it matters and how he has all conference supremacy over Hurley.

Just what this board needs. Another anti Big East troll.

I wonder who on PC, if anyone, Danny would like to see in a Husky uniform next year. Coach is gone, there should be some player movement.

Yeah I know it's a back injury, I was curious why he would say "it doesn't seem like the kind of injury" that he couldn't play through without knowing what exactly the injury is.

He doesn’t have infinitely more coaching experience. He has 2 years more head coaching experience. That also doesn’t really contradict my point that he has a really small amount of experience to get a high major job and is a pretty big risk for a program that can’t really afford that risk right now IMO.
Apparently you aren't familiar with the mathematical definition of infinite (IE division by zero)

Battle of the bubble in the B12 tourney, UCF outlasts Cincinnati in OT

Jalen Celestine (40% 3P shooter) missed a wide open three pretty badly that would have won it

Cincinnati was up 8 with 2:17 left in regulation. Rough way to go out

He’d still have said it even if the dude was a quadriplegic just for the sake of a hot take.
