Diaco has learned almost nothing about game coaching in 2 years. It's really demoralizing. Unless something changes drastically I'm off the bandwagon.
Year 3 = SHOW ME and it's not possible to pin this sissy approach on the players. We run a plain vanilla offense. Predictable and passive. It's not productive and not fun to watch. And our QB won't last long passing only on 3rd down. Just sickening.

Liam Coen (Maine OC) shows a solid balance for a FCS Program ... and Verducci is stuck.

Target Noel Thomas. Run Newsome/Johnson. Let's see more more more. And, I really am disappointed in the OLine. Not Shirreffs ... kids gutty (and how are we gonna make it through 12).

First 3 drives start at the 40 or better and no points.

Uconn will win, but they should have scored on at least two of those drives with a short field against ME.

I am even ok with the conservative calling, but he has learned NOTHING about clock management in his time at UConn. Terrible inside of 2 minutes all last year, and now this. You either kick the 52 yarder with your senior Groza candidate or throw a hail mary. Just no words to describe the stupidity.

Coaching staff quit on the team for the second time this half.

First series, they had fourth and 1 at Maine 40 and punted.

And now they let 30 seconds run off inside Maine's territory and don't even attempt a play.

Hope Benedict takes notice.

Agree with this 100% Hopefully Benedict can see the negative impact a negative philosophy has on this team. It will never get us where we need to be. We're not Alabama.

Awful line play. Awful play calling Awful defense. Awful time management. If we don't come back in the 2nd half we seriously need to reevaluate this staff.

Sherriffs was actually pretty good.

He was, but I found myself wincing every time he went down. And bottom line, we should have a better line so that he isn't deployed on the ground anywhere near as often.

These halftime guys sound like they're on skype - LOL

Safe to say Maine's staff has done more with their talent than UConn's staff has done with their talent.

Wow, the first half results are squarely on the coaching staff. Very disappointed so far in HCBD and Verducci. Playing not to lose against an FCS team has got to be demoralizing on the players. It obviously is on the fans. Hopefully, we see a completely different effort in the second half. There really is no room for excuses.

I haven't read the entire thread but the lack of a fg or Hail Mary attempt at the end of the half was ridiculous. Is he afraid Maine would score from 60 yards out on one play? No reason not to try it. I hope someone asks him about that cause I have no idea how he can rationalize that.

Watchespn on xboxlive just went pure black until the end of halftime, and it's very enjoyable and zen.

Boy all of you at the game haven't checked your scoreboard. Cincinnati and Tennessee are both losing to FCS teams.
And that's an excuse for UConn to be tied 7-7 with Maine? Give me a break. The halftime score should be more like 21-0 Huskies but the O-line gave up a QB sack on the VERY FIRST SET!!! Obi let a guy into the end zone and the coaching staff looks like deer frozen in the middle of I-84.

Welp.....looks like i picked the wromg week to stop sniffing glue

Always a classic.

Sherriffs needs to look down field before running. I get our O line has him running for his life but once he make a rusher miss he needs to buy time to pass. I love Sheriff's effort and heart but a quarterback needs to buy time to throw the ball. He won't make it through the game, let alone the season, if he doesn't stop the tuck it and run approach.

Any yeah, really uncreative and stagnant offense. Maine D is putting 10 men within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. The ball has to go down the field. Our WRs may have dropped a couple but that is where the match up is...A good coach adjusts to what the D is showing....hopefully the UConn Offense re-tools at the half...that was really frustrating to watch.

I'd like to say "don't panic" but this is another awful showing mostly precipitated by a staff that refuses to trust the players. No FG attempt means he feared a block more than than a big time kick. Throwing laterally means you don't trust the QB to throw downfield. Not throwing downfield means you don't trust your O-line. The list goes on and on. Diaco talks big but calls small.

This offense is just....sigh

I just hope Shirreffs doesn't get hurt

Well it's not his fault. That actually makes his performance more impressive.
