The score went from 38-14 to 68-68. Oops! But the Lynx eked out a W.

I got to meet VaUConnFan and VaMike23. Nice guys! I'm thinking of changing my handle to VaMilfordHusky. If Moose moves here, he could be VaMoose. :)

A real pleasure meeting and talking with you guys; Which only added to the thrill of sitting next to Cheryl Reeve's mother and brother.

1. The game should never have gotten that close. Not only is Minnesotoa clearly superior, but there is no on on Washinton's team that gives me a great deal of concern. However, underestimating one's opponent has caused many a favorite's downfall. Minnesota may have taken its foot off the pedal a bit too early. Truth be told, I could not give you a true opinion/evaluation as to how/why Washington was able to make a game of it in the second half; Too busy chatting with fellow Boneyarders.
2. The crowd was sparse but very, very vocal in the second half when Washington made its run. The fans were a factor.
3. Natalie Novosel seemed content to just give the ball up every time she touched it.
4. It was surprising when Amber Harris was inserted into the game. She made her presence known; Looked exceptionally strong on the boards.
5. Remembering how good a rebounder Maya was at the collegiate level makes one appreciate the difference at the next level. The action down low in the WNBA is not for the faint of heart.
6. Seimone Augustus missed at least three gimme layups; One heckuva ballplayer.
7. Late in the game, it appeared that Minnesota was looking for/setting up plays for Maya.
8. Devereaux Peters looks like a good fit on this Minnesotoa team.
9. Washington almost stole this game.

The pleasure was all mine. My guess is that you are hobnobbing with famous folks all of the time. :)
1. Agreed. Minnesota should have been up by 15+ for the entire second half. Did Taj's injury impact them? I thought there was a big intensity shift at halftime.
2. I think the "official" crowd size was 8,131. The arena seats 19,000. It was less than 20% full. But it did get loud at the end--for both teams.
3. Natalie hit a baseline jumper on which she got a favorable bounce. She shot 1-2 in 4 minutes. I thought it was interesting when Maya was guarding her.
4. Amber played early--earlier than I expected--and was effective. But she played little late. I wonder why, especially with the injury to Taj.
5. Agreed, very physical Most of the rebounders are taller than Maya and almost as athletic. Brunson is a stud.
6. Seimone made nice moves to get to the hoop, but she needs to finish. Geno says that Division 1 scholarship players have to make layups. Seimone is a fabulous player, but she and Lindsay need to trust their teammates and do more than going 1-on-1 at crunch time (my view).
7. Didn't notice. Maya took 2 good jump shots late and missed both.
8. I agree. She is tall with long arms. Dev blocked what could have been the gamewinner at the buzzer. The block was aided by the high-arcing lob pass on the inbound. The reason the pass needed to be lobbed was that Maya--after playing 31 minutes--used her athleticism to totally impede the pass. She was wildly waving her arms and jumping 2-3' off the floor. Minnesota's defensive execution in the last second was superb.
9. They did. Maybe they found something to build on, but the Lynx are the far better team.
