I was just tossing this around in my mind. Both have pretty similar stats, but Lute has A LOT more NBA talent, but I would say is not considered as great all time by the national media.

Lute:
NCAA Division I Tournament Championship (1997)
NCAA Regional Championships - Final Four (1980, 1988, 1994, 1997, 2001)
Pac-10 Tournament championships (1988–1990, 2002)
11× Pac-10 regular season championships (1986, 1988–1991, 1993, 1994, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2005)
Big West regular season championship (1974)
Big Ten regular season championship (1979)

Jim:
NCAA Division I championship (2003)
NCAA Regional championships – Final Four (1987, 1996, 2003, 2013, 2016)
Big East Tournament championships (1981, 1988, 1992, 2005, 2006)
Big East regular season championships (1980, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 2000, 2003, 2010)

On the serious side Lute by a landslide. My brother in law is a big U of Az and Lute fan.

And Lute just to offend the Cuse trolls.

Really close. BY hates Boeheim so I'm going out on a limb and guessing Lute wins the poll.

I voted for Lute. One award I give nose-picker is the ability to schedule cupcakes at home to ensure winning 20+ games every year. At least the NCAA finally made that behavior unacceptable. I would have 800 wins if I coached with those players and that schedule.

Lute. Similar resumes but a lot better dude.

Boeheim's probably loved by the media so much cause most of them went there.

And Lute doesn't need a gimmick D.

Pretty sure that Lute's resume doesn't include being a poster boy for Nose Picker's Anonymous, so he gets extra credit for that.

The only credit I'd give the picker is he looked the other way regarding Laura!

Can't believe his players didn't. I guess they closed their eyes and held their nose.

That's easy. It's Olsen, because there are fewer boogers on Lutes resume.

Lute's success is concentrated during a shorter duration. His career was cut short due to health issues. Certainly would've added wins and probably conference titles, maybe could've added another Final 4 or two if he'd been able to coach longer. As an Arizona fan that late game collapse vs. Illinois in the '05 Regional Final still pisses me off, never quite gonna get over that one.

Also my impression is that Boeheim has had more mediocre seasons at Syracuse than Lute did at Arizona. The 'Cuse has faded a bit since they joined the ACC. They are a far cry from the national power they once were during the glory days of the Big East (but the same could be said for most of the former conference members--sorry I know it hurts but it's true).

Interesting. Every time the Cuse won the BigEast regular season, they did not win the BET.
