Luke Murray and BC?

Well, if we really wanted those Providence guys, this might get them here
Have heard through the grapevine that a lot of those guys didn't like him that much by the end lol, so take that for what it's worth (with a grain of salt I'm sure).

Derek Kellogg would seem pretty uninspired to me but I guess he was good enough for McDermott.

I assume Luke is going to make a run at bringing the Furman kid home.
Friends with Hurley i think back to their A-10 days. Was also with Cal in Memphis.

How awesome is it that BC hires a new coach and most of the conversation is about UConn. BC fans must love it. Talking about UConn potentially winning another natty at their intro press conference. No dream job nonsense.
Honestly, I think they are probably fine with it. Anything they can do to ride UConn's coat tails is good for them.

I won't question Dan's judgement, and I really have nothing against Kellogg, but he'll need to get the stink from Calipari off him before he comes here.

It wouldn't be a idea. And English can recruit as we saw PC was a talented squad.

, LOL

I don't know if the grapevine is true or not, but from what I saw on the court in many games it seemed like Kim English was respected by the players. I know that doesn't mean much.

Yeah I know who he is it just seems to be the equivalent of Cal having Bruiser Flint on staff. But Hurley knows a hell of a lot more than I do.

Would be curious to know what Illinois & AZ are doing that we aren't.
Might want to check out The Herd interview with Colin and Brad U in the last day or two. Stumbled on it yesterday and they talk about Illini International recruiting-among other things.. Orlando A and other assistants are over there every 6 weeks or so working their recruiting relationships per Underwood. Even during the season. Good listen if interested.

Wow. Thats a lot of travel during the season

I was going to suggest English as a potential replacement for Murray but figured I'd save myself the ribbing I'd get here. It seemed far fetched anyway. He's a good offensive coach and a very good recruiter. His team's lack of defense and discipline is concerning.

Kellogg is uninspiring, but only because I think of him as the guy that didn't cut it as coach of UMass. No idea on that one.

Luke had the Duke scout which means Kimani would likely have the Illinois scout anyway. Doubt it's having any impact on their prep
Kimani has the illinois plan and Luke would have the next game of they keep alternating. Im assuming the next 3 days its all business and he gets his ass back to work

As navery said

Luke studied the Euro League intensely and brings plays and Euro strategy to Hurley. We need to replace that focus on Europe, not just for recruiting, but for ideas and concepts.
What is the current NIL setup with internationals? Is there a haircut there?

Still cannot earn inside the US I believe. It's a Visa thing. I think it's one reason we (and many others like Illinois) filled those last two scholarships with international guys. They are lottery tickets of a sort, low cost developmental guys.

What about all these Euros on Illinois, Krivas, Mara? Are these guys NIL-free? If so, we really need to saturate in those talent beds.

It depends on the Visa type.

No, all of those guys are earning NIL just like everyone else. And they're likely making significant amounts of NIL since they're turning down pro contracts to come to the US
Going forward I’d imagine they’ll all be getting a lot in revenue sharing. Still a lot in NIL too?

They can't get either if they are on the most common type of Visa. The Rev Share is even more clear than NIL. I think you'll see them applying for different visas than other students.

Distinction without a difference for me. I know it's 2 different things but either way they're getting money for playing basketball at UConn so I was just using it interchangeably

One thing worth watching (yes I'm injecting some drama), will be to see if there is anyone on this roster Luke takes with him. I'm not sure where it would start or end, but I could see a nice thank you parting gift to Luke would be letting him start his program with kids that know how to set the culture, and to build the first year or two of the program around. Whether that be anyone on the very back end of roster, or perhaps someone that wants guaranteed starting minutes. Perhaps a win win.
