Big Lville fans tonight in this matchup.

Would a SMU win solidify their resume as better than ours? Even if we beat Lville this weekend we would have to probably win the AAC tourney to get a better seed than SMU in March. Opinions?

I understand seeding for the conference tournament, but who cares if SMU has a better seed than us in the NCAA?

Now that #1 in the AAC is pretty much out of the question for UConn, I don't want Louisville anywhere near the record books for regular season championship and conference championship. Let's go SMU.

Go SMU, I would love to see UL drop to the 4-5 seed in the AAC tournament.

No question uconn fans need to be rooting for SMU. An SMU win means we control our own destiny to get off the 4/5 AAC seedline. Even if its on the road, we want that chance. If Ville wins, we need to beat louisville AND SMU needs to lose to Memphis.

Their wins over us are impressive but their RPI is 35, SOS is 165, Non conf SOS is 299 and they are 4-4 vs top 100 with atleast two more top 50 games on the schedule. They are 10-2 over their last 12 with losses to USF and Temple.
We have an RPI of 24, SOS of 62, Non conf SOS 72 and are 9-4 vs RPI top 100 with at least one game vs top 50 remaining. We are 9-3 with losses to teams in the top 50.

We should have the higher seed, or at least the same seed but in the "better" pod.

Scratch that, I think we lose on tie breakers.

If we win out and SMU finishes ahead of us or tied we lose on tie breakers with anyone in the top four due to the fact we are the only squad to be swept by them. The scenarios to finish top three are plausible but a distant possibility. We should be cheering for UCONN to beat Rutgers and what happens, happens. Personally, I'd like to see Ville win.

Unfortunately no matter who wins tonight we would not control our own destiny.

If SMU wins we would need Memphis to beat both Cinci and SMU for us to finish 3rd.

If Louisville wins we just need Memphis to beat SMU.

Both situations require that we beat RU and Louisville of course.

Technically we are alive for the 2 seed. This game does not affect it. We would need to win out, Memphis would need to win out and Rutgers needs to beat Cincy............

If we want off the 4/5 line, we want Ville to win this game tonight...........SMU needs to drop their last 2 games, which is possible....Ville tonight, Memphis AT Memphis on Sat.....but we also need to win tonight and Saturday as well.

The only way we get the 2 seed is with a 5 way tie where all teams finish 13-5. Louisville would have to lose both of their remaining games for this to happen.

Root for Louisville. Plain and simple. If SMU wins any more games, we don't move off the line. Although I feel we are better than Memphis, it is very difficult to beat a fairly decent team such as theirs 3 times in one season. We need to move off the line, the line being 4/5...

OK you got me there. I probably didn't think of this scenario because honestly what are the chances Cinci actually loses to Rutgers?
Never know, only 1 day rest off of Memphis, and after playing Lville, UConn, and Memphis there is a chance at a let down.

As long as we beat Louisville to keep them from winning the conference I hope it happens.

Go SMU. Want them to get a better seed in the tour.. Hope Ville loses it's last two games. Who we play in the AAC doesn't matter much to be.

Tell me. What is more important- our seed in the NCAA tournament or SMU's? If SMU wins any more games, we don't get a top 3 AAC seed, thus have a much tougher road in the AAC tournament, furthermore resulting in a potential lower NCAA tournament seed.

Give me a break.

That Houston game really coming back to bite us in the @ss

No, we had overcome the Houston loss. The SMU loss at Gampel is going to end up being the real killer.

No bigger myth right now than Gampel being a tougher home court than XL. Memphis and Cincy at the XL= Wins. Louisville and SMU at Gampel= losses.

At first blush, this appears to be the best scenario. Although, think about this. If we win against Rutgers and Louisville and SMU loses tonight to Louisville and then wins against Memphis we'll be tied with SMU and they get the tie-breaker - beat us twice. If they win against 'Ville tonight and we beat Louisville on Saturday, we'll be tied with Louisville, each having a road victory against the other.

The critical question is who wins the tiebreaker between us and Louisville to get the 3 vs. the 4 seed? Can anyone enlighten me?
