Both teams a combined 3-18 from the free throw line. Not sure I have ever seen anything like that.

LSU cut a 10 point lead to 3 points in just 2 minutes

19 seconds left LSU ball

M. Taylor looks overwhelmed. Not playing well. MSU went stagnant the last 7 minutes with 2 players jacking up shots. LSU has been able to cut the lead down.

.-.
Well that looks like that does it

Good game state. Y'all have some good players, MSU needs better PG play badly. M. Taylor plays some good defense but her decision making and shooting has been awful. Not sure she knows how to run a offense. She stalled a lot of offense down the stretch than someone would throw up a last minute Hail Mary shot.

LSU clearly improved. Don't think this game is a fluke at all. I had LSU in my top 25, and I knew they belonged there and this game showed it. They were playing A&M tough even with Carter. They can play with anyone in the conference tough and I wouldn't be surprised if they beat anyone - except South Carolina.

9 points in the 4th quarter. 5 of those were free throws...... and we still won. This is a true SEC game, imo. Sure it's a lot closer than what most of what Starkville is used to seeing, but it shouldn't be surprising at this point. Definitely the best game played at the Hump this year in terms of some actual sauce for the crowd.

Her play until recently had been much better. She looked for her shot too much instead of initiating sets.

Surprised matharu didn’t see more time in the 2nd half. She looked great in limited minutes

omg are you serious? Is this a record of some sort?

Miss St and LSU were both embarrassments from the free throw line tonight. Mitchell hit the backboard with no rim on multiple of her free throws. Tiara Young airmailed one free throw. There is no way we practice them much looking at the numbers. Pointer is at least reliable at the line.

Between the UConn-UCF, Duke-ND, and MSU-LSU games, I have had my fill of ugly basketball for at least a decade.

Don't watch any of my teams play, okay? You've got the ugly game mojo going apparently.

Too late. Oregon State already played at Arizona State

Matharu is good for spurts. However once a few shots start falling then she will jack up some “horse” type shots. It doesn’t matter if it’s four guarding her.

@Plebe Don’t be fooled by those percentages. Both teams heated up late from the FT line:rolleyes:

Hard to understand MSST play, sometimes they look like an elite team and suddenly the switch gets toggled and we look like a playground junior high team. Team is so fragile that we get rattled when shots do not fall, we do not have that player that can settle the team down. Sure miss Jazz.

J Danberry is a great complimentary player and she is a great example of how an athletically gifted player can be dominant in spurts. However she is not “the straw that stirs the drink”. Right now we also don’t have that go to player when we need a basket. J Danberry’s range is too limited to isolate her against another player in a half court set. I think we have two and maybe three freshmen that will be capable of that sooner rather than later as R Jackson and A Matharu physically can do things others can’t physically guard. Both just need experience to make better decisions.

I believe Mingo Young can be the straw. The dilemma is our PG has to learn the strong points for thr other players and that takes time playing with those players. My fear is that our potential straws do not get enough game time to learn the other players. Having too many choices is not always a good thing.

I wouldn’t disagree regarding Mingo-Young as I think she and Matharu will end up being our backcourt. However I don’t think either is ready yet to take a big leap in playing time or for her to overtake M Taylor as the starter.

An LSU team that would shoot 70% of their free throws every game would be a strong SEC team. An LSU team that could shoot 70% free throws and the three above average would be a close to elite. Especially with how they hold every team to their lows on offense.
