The "cut me mick" girl does have a sense of humor.

"And the University of Connecticut women's basketball team junior All-American had not lost her sense of humor Monday night after she finished with a game-high 19 points and a swollen left eye as the top-ranked Huskies held off No. 9 Texas 75-71 before a partisan announced crowd of 11,877 at the Frank Erwin Center.

"I just got a nice elbow," Samuelson said. "It got more swollen throughout the game. It's good right now. I think it looks pretty with all the colors." :D

Despite swollen eye, Samuelson sees Uconn's win over Texas through

PS. I'm done now for the morning.

Good stuff, thanks

"Teams are going to play as tough as they can and play as hard as they can against us," Samuelson said. "So we need to be ready to fight back for any punch that's thrown at us."

Yea, any type of punch/elbow...etc. Head bang

After watching the game for a second time, I’ve come to think that UConn played much better than I first supposed. They showed a lot of fight and hustle. Often, the Husky who didn’t make the play made it possible for the one who did.

Thank you for posting-now if we can get some of the other naysayers to "objectively assess the game" and then realize not all the great talent comes to UConn and other teams can actually, at times play to a level close to UConn's. So, while UConn has 6 undefeated seasons with Geno, that is not remotely the norm and to think every game should be a 20 point win or else something is wrong worries me as fellow poster here. Texas played awesome-and I think people saw the Tennessee game where Texas played down to that level (it happens-look at Tulane last year) and think, "awe man, we only beat Texas by 4?".

BTW-VolNation thinks that and just doesn't grasp the point that their Texas game was a lesser of two evils-both teams played poorly. I so want them in the tournament...

Thanks again for watching and posting this. You, Oscar, Bert and Ernie were always my fav's, Elmo, not so much...

Lou may be a pretty California beach girl, but she's got the heart of a Badass.

Lou was good when she got to college, but she has grown so much as a player in 2+ years. She started to show an edge last year with the MD and East Carolina games. This year she seems to be downright enjoying mixing it up. Now laughing off what appears to be a pretty nasty shiner.

I am so impressed with her toughness. I'm thinking she's gonna be a great WNBA player.

Lou may come from Huntington Beach, aka Surf City, but I will be willing to say the ratio of days in the gym(or any open basketball court) vs the days at the beach are about 100 at the gym to 1 at the beach. Very hard to dribble the ball in the sand.
Although many beaches, have courts at the beach, like ones near me in Laguna Beach.

But, but...I wasn’t a naysayer. I said nary a nay. I was just another fan who on first look didn’t see a lot of small, good plays that were meaningful contribs.

I like Kia acting as the enforcer later in the game when she jumped in the fray resulting in a jump ball. Over the year we had a few playing this role. One of the best still sit on the Uconn bench!
What time did Kia do that?
