That fumble is not the reason we lost. The kid should keep his head up.
Say he fielded it clean.
Then we would have to drive down the field and score. Not likely based on how the offense looked all day.
Then we would have to convert two.
Then we would have to win OT.
If he makes the catch, our chances of winning are still microscopic - that play had little to do with the outcome.

You're right, but these kids are competitors. They got this far because they live and die with their passion and their competitive spirit. So when something like this happens, it's devastating. I mean, think how despondent most UConn fans were walking out of that stadium, and then multiply that by... well, I have no idea.
I think the kid has a bright future and I hope he does keep his head up, but I'm also glad he's passionate enough to not just let it go, either.
it's not the mistake that defines people. Its how one responds from that mistake.
