I could be wrong, but I remember hearing that during home visits, the staff usually tries to get some sort of commitment from the player; not necessarily to the school, but maybe for an official visit or something of that sort. Is there any chance we're close enough with this guy to get a commitment on Wednesday?
Usually they try to schedule an official or unoffical visit, if they hadn't done already. Sometimes they try to get a committment for them to visit for First Night. I'm assuming with him being such a primary target, they'd welcome a verbal to the program, but that's not likely forthcoming. I think he's going to take a few more visits before he commits. He recently visited FSU, if I'm not mistaken, and fortunately for us, left there without a committment. I can't imagine him scheduling all these in-home visits if he had or was extremely close to deciding.
I'd love to see him in a UConn uniform. I'm sure he's waiting to see how the JC situation plays out. I'm sure the staff is doing their best to present a picture of the future. Not sure how well that is comign across. Props for the staff in getting a couple verbals with such uncertainty hanging over the program. I imagine that the higher profile recruits that have a lot of very good options are more likely to take a wait and see approach and might be harder to be had due to the number of good options they have. With that said, it seemed the two that committed still have some pretty solid programs knocking on their door, so who knows?!?!
Let's hope we at least get a commitment from XRM to schedule an official visit for sometime after he takes his SATs. As most know, officials can't start till after their senior year begins and after they've taken the SATs at least once.
