Naatiya Indian Restaurant in Bloomfield is where my Indian friends go for authentic Indian cuisine in Hartford Cty. Been a few times-excellent. Obviously not a So Ct suggestion.
10000% correct. It's hard to find good Indian food anywhere. India is huge. It's like going to a "European" restaurant in Dehli. If you're just picking dishes that folks will like from from France, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Greece... none of them are going to be very good or authentic. If only because you're going to have a hard time sourcing any decent ingredients or finding people who know the techniques.
At least that's how my Punjabi co-worker explained it to me a few months ago.
