1) Energy was high both days even though there were empty seats. The roar was intense as Michigan vainly tried to get off a game-tying shot as the game ended.
2) Michigan appears to have a class program as well as a talented one. Talking to most of the team after the game at MJ23 my friend said thank you for beating ND, we hate them. They answered so do we. They were articulate, well-mannered, and suprisingly upbeat after a gut wrenching loss.
3) Had an extended conversation with a parent of one of the current beloved (that narrows it down) Huskies asking about the internal workings since most of us only see from afar. He said this was the deepest team since his daughter was there, the comaradarie was unbelievable not just with the current team but with the preceding generations. Whenever Diana, Sue, etc. saw the parents they were incredibly well informed about what was going on with their daughter.
4) As the parent of a D1 athlete who played professionally (not basketball) for 4 years listening to the comments of those sitting around as the game progressed it never ceases to amaze how quickly people forget these are kids, or very young adults, playing at the highest levels against equally motivated athletes. Their success rate is unrivaled but not enough for some. Fortunately, our fans are generally well-informed, appreciative and don't let the silly turnover or brick morph from temporary disappointment into hostility as happens so often elsewhere.
5) When I talked briefly with Geno about Dave Gavitt quitting coaching because of being tired of players in their underwear running up the court with his pay check in their mouth his answer was "it's worse now".
6) The Big East deserves some love. As of 11/24 it has the best winning percentage against the AP top 25.

ACC 2-11 15%
Big 12 3-4 43%
Big East 3-1 75%
Big 10 5-5 50%
SEC 3-2 60%

If you look at the Coaches's Rankings Big East is 4-1, with 3 of the wins from UConn (other win from St. John's) and only loss from Georgetown who is 4-2. But yet, Charley Creme has only UConn in the 68 team bracket (Yes, it is early and NOT reflective of the NCAA committee).

Go Big East!! Go Huskies!!!

Hmmm. Maybe conference play won't be such a cakewalk.
Those wins are all UConn. The Big East is still the fifth-rated conference on Massey with no other team in the Top 50. With the recent success of UConn football, one can only hope that the ACC will ignore BC and invite UConn to participate. Long term, the Big East is not the answer.

St. Johns has a win against Oklahoma State, 74-67.
