I hope for a Chris Obekpa type impact on defense.
He will not be Chris Obekpa, which honestly is a good thing.

Obekpa is the definition of a one-dimensional player - he blocks a ton of shots, and literally does nothing else. He's a poor rebounder for a guy his size, and St. John's is literally playing 4-on-5 offensively when he's on the court.

I think people here are going to be surprised at how polished Facey will be next season. He won't be a great scorer by any stretch, but relative to most young big men he has a real good feel on the offensive end. (He's definitely not raw, which a lot of people have labeled him.)

Good to hear. On shot blocking ability alone...What kind of impact do you expect Facey to have at the college level?

Our guards will love him on defense. Just will need to master the outlet pass/block to set up our fast break.

He has a very soft touch from 15 ft in. High arching shot, that will go over the arms of defenders. He finishes around the rim well too.
And blocks shots....obviously.

That's always tough to say. At the very least, he'll provide more of a shot-blocking presence than UConn's bigs did this past season (not that that's saying much). He seems to have a very good feel for rebounding as well.

I don't want to make Facey seem like the second coming - he'll need to get stronger and better all around, just like any freshman big man. But his mobility at center should provide an excellent complement to what UConn already has at the other four positions.

The way this team is set up for next season, we dont need Facey to average 10-15 ppg for us to make a final four run. Now that would be great if he does but from all the reports, it seems like his defensive game and rebounding are more advanced then his offensive game at this point. With Napier, Boatright, Calhoun, and DD who im expecting a HUGE year out of, we will be just fine offensively. As long as our frontcourt is physical and can defend/rebound/block shots, I will be happy.
