Long break between games?

Whats the reason behind the long winter break in college hockey? I know they have finals but thats like one week.

Strange, but its always been that way in D1. I think part of it is World Juniors (best teams lose their players to national teams), part of it the holidays.

This one will see especially long since the next 3 "home" games are in Bridgeport. No Hartford games until mid-January I think
