Had thought maybe they'd turned a corner after their last 2 efforts. Shame on me.

I'd been on the team this year for their seemingly lethargic efforts, but as I watch them today, I'm actually questioning if they really have the talent I thought they did. They're actually quite slow and very undersized on the perimeter, and the front court lacks any kind of real skill. Almost everything is mechanical for them.

I'm proud of our program and the fact we are champs takes the sting out of this lost season. Hope we can rebuild/reload in the next couple of years.

The problem and thing that killed UConn so far is the foul trouble on Oriakhi and Drummond

No... the problem was not with fouls... the problem is we were facing a MUCH better team.

Marquette is not a much better team. Don't get me wrong UConn screwed itself on some plays but the refs took any run UConn had away.

This team is a joke. Pathetic. Disgrace to uconn basketball There aren't enough adjectives to describe how bad we are. The refs did screw us but how can we get out rebounded by a team that doesn't have a guy taller than 6 7. We get beat down court for five lay ups. We're lazy. We play dumb. And we're lethargic. Not a good combo

I also thought this team turned the corner. This team has no sustained fight and no heart. JC may be great but he isn't the Wizard of Oz. You can see it on defense; just no intensity. There isn't 1 or even 2 players to blame. There isn't anyone on the bench you can bring in to light a spark because they are sparkless. All you have to do is look at our record and the talent we have. This may be the most disappointing Uconn team ever and it has nothing to do with excessive fan expectations.

Ok, blame the refs (we did get shafted). I see it another way: Marquette punched us in the mouth and instead of fighting back we went to the nurses office. Pathetic.

Really? Marquette punched UConn in the mouth? Please tell me how Marquette made it's run in the first half. I'll help, Drummond/Oriakhi/Smith were all on the bench in foul trouble and Wolf/Olander were on the floor.

Stop, just stop, you look foolish. Foul trouble didn't make them play heartless and give little effort throughout this game, and to SUGGEST as such is ridiculous.

Couple guys get into foul trouble, so the rest of the team decides to give NO effort? Really?

No you are the foolish one and just wrong.

Seriously, UConn was down 23-20 before Drummond picked up #2 and was on the bench (next to Oriakhi and Smith).

How much effort do you expect from Olander and Wolf frontcourt? Do you have a clue how easy that made it for Marquette both offensively or defensively? Neither Wolf nor Olander have to be seriously defended and neither Wolf nor Olander can seriously defend any screens on the guards. Not to mention Olander and Wolf are not great rebounders and both are slow running back on defense. Marquette went on a 7-2 run (9-2 if you count the foul shots on the Drummond foul) in 2:33 with the frontcourt of Olander and Wolf. That is huge and has nothing to do with effort. That stretched the Marquette lead from 3 to 10. Marquette went into halftime up 13.

Now if you want to say that Blaney made bad decisions, that I agree with. Smith probably should have been out there next to Olander. That at least would have made the defense better. Secondly, UConn should have been playing to drain the clock as much as possible on offense, knowing all their decent bigs were in foul trouble.

Effort was not the problem in the first half.

I do agree they gave up with about 3 minutes to go when down 10

Edit:

Olander missed a layup and two foul shots in the last 7 minutes which would have at least kept it to single digits going into the half. Wolf took 3 shots, why is Wolf taking 3 jumpshots?
