Wonder if it’s to keep UVA and VT in same league. While I don't believe a thing this guy says, it is an interesting thought. UNC is pretty obvious, but I'd be surprised by Clemson over UVA or VT.
This could help get UConn to the ACC. Fingers crossed

It really doesn’t make a ton of sense. This feels like a baseless rumor for the time being. Also, why now? With the ACC GOR thru 2036, I figured we were about 5 years away from schools making a serious attempt to bolt from the ACC.
UNC is the school I hear frequently mentioned. You don't think they have value?I don't understand why people here (and on other sites) think that any ACC team would add value to the SEC in TV $$. The SEC is the best conference in viewers now. The only value-added team would be Notre Dame or one the top B1G teams. Everything else is meh.
The interesting thing about a state like South Carolina is how fast it is growing. For perspective, in 1990, South Carolina's population was similar to Connecticut, but now it is over 50% bigger. Market growth is important to conferences.Clemson shares a market with South Carolina, and when they aren't a consistent 10-win team, they are not a TV draw; they don't really add anything to the SEC unless they need a team just to even out the numbers. Their best shot to the P2 is as secondary target to even out the numbers; but a few more mediocre years may cause them to get left behind.
There is a big drop off in NFL talent after the top four states- Texas, Florida, California, and Georgia. UNC has no history of fielding good football teams.North Carolina (the state) has the 5th most players in the NFL. It is the 9th most populous state (and growing). If UNC were to separate from the rest of the N.C. schools, it would become a football powerhouse in a football state. The SEC would gladly full share them and keep them away from the B10 - and vice versa.
UNC with twice the money would - for the reasons posted. More in-state NFL players than Louisiana and Alabama. And they will get the invite - my response to a previous post stating why any ACC teams would draw interest from the P2.There is a big drop off in NFL talent after the top four states- Texas, Florida, California, and Georgia. Or they end up like Maryland and Rutgers. Just another East Coast mediocre college football team.UNC with twice the money would - for the reasons posted. Possible but not likely for the reasons stated. 1) More in-state talent. 2) would be the biggest dog at the bowl as the wealthy flagship with a full share of P2 money.Or they end up like Maryland and Rutgers. Just another East Coast mediocre college football team.
UNC has never been a football power. Has not won the ACC in football since 1980. Being best FBS team in football in North Carolina means nothing.Possible but not likely for the reasons stated. 1) More in-state talent. 2) would be the biggest dog at the bowl as the wealthy flagship with a full share of P2 money.
You don’t have to concede the points, that’s fine. MD and Rutty are apples to oranges.
Only in BB which, as we have all been told, doesn't count. UNC has a good FB maybe once a decade.UNC is the school I hear frequently mentioned. You don't think they have value?
Being good once a decade in football is giving too much credit to UNC. Last time they won ACC was 1980. Let that sink in. 45 years ago.Only in BB which, as we have all been told, doesn't count. UNC has a good FB maybe once a decade.
