Seriously? If you'd like I'll come down and show you the highlights of Peoria. Should take about 12 minutes. You getting an engineering Masters?

Totally serious. I live in Nashville and I'm going for masters of clinical mental health psych. So taking online program. They have one of the best in the country by far.

However, I will be coming up sometime in November to meet professors and I'll need a guide, since I know nothing about the town. I'll take you up on that 100%

Tier 1
UConn MBB

Tier 2
Mets
Any NBA team with a UConn player

Tier 3
Bills
UConn WBB, FB

Bills are the only team I’m AS passionate about as UConn. They’re my tier 1s.

The Atlanta Braves are just below them in tier 2, almost 1a.

My third tier is FSU football, Buffalo Sabres
and UConn WBB

I’d include a 4th tier for local teams I want to win but lesser passion or lesser engagement in the sport, like U Buffalo sports, Bonaventure, etc.

S Tier: UConn MBB
A Tier: UConn FB, UConn WBB, UConn Baseball, USMNT
B Tier: Crystal Palace, UConn Hockey, UConn Men's Soccer
C Tier: Celtics, Patriots
D Tier: Red Sox, USWNT

Okay, I realize this post is turning into a novel...

Tier 1: High-school boys hoops, wayyyyyy ahead of anything. Centered around NorCal where I live, but I watch other states online, too. I've been a big fan of Aidan's school, Campolindo, since the late 80's. Even when I moved to Oregon in the 90's, I kept up with Campo games online... When I moved back, I jumped riiiiiight back in...

This tier is like 50 miles above Tier 2, unless a high-school baller I've followed gets into a D1 college, like Aidan Mahaney has. But even then, that moves it only somewhat closer, like 25 miles...

So, I'll say UConn men's hoops occupies Tier 2 all by itself. Before Aidan transferred, SMC had this tier to itself.

Tier 3: Women/girls hoop, once again the level of intensity depends on who I've followed at the time... Paige and Caitlin have raised said intensity quite a bit. I don't usually get a lot of chances to see local girls HS. I would if they'd play alternating nights or something...

Tier 4: HS football, especially Campolindo.

Tier 5: Giants baseball with a near-equal hate of the Dodgers. In the last couple years, Rangers hockey.

Tier 6 is for stuff I used to be into but not much anymore: UCLA basketball... That's where I got into the game, seeing John Wooden's powerhouse starting when I was 8. This is the only SoCal team I like. Also horse racing, which was by far my favorite sport for a long time... The way American racing has been run the last few years, I have almost completely quit paying attention altogether. I do still play Derbyfever, an amazing MMORPG, and am still just as heavily involved in this game despite my growing distaste for American racing.

GIGANTIC gap.....

Tier 500 million: Soccer. Even though my HS had a good team (for a small school) and I covered the games for my HS newspaper... I have never ever come close to liking this silly game, and never ever will.

I've gotta add kindergarten sports. Any team sport. It's hilarious watching them all follow the ball together. Soccer and basketball games look like a pinball machine with players being the bumpers.

Haaaaaa. These days it's hard to be an avid fan of kindergarten sports. Sitting in the stands at a tee ball game:
"Which kid is yours?"
"None. My kid's are in college. I just LOVE watching teeball"
As she dials 911...

Fascinating. Let me see if I understand, you weren't a UConn basketball fan until we got Aidan? This is gonna be your first year as a UConn fan?
If so, your new chocolate bar has a golden ticket. Welcome to the boneyard and the glory of UConn basketball, you lucky son of a bitch.

UConn MBB
-gap-
UConn FB
College football (sec)
NFL (my DFS/fantasy players)
Titans
Other UConn sports
Major golf tournaments
UConn MBB is layers in the pros

Used to watch every single Yankees game for 20+ years straight but gave them up before last season. It has helped save what’s left of my sanity and also given me a lot more free time in the summer lol

Yeah, I stopped going when I retire from teaching.

Tiered by how I would feel the morning after each won a championship:

Tier 1: UConn men’s hoops, UConn baseball.
My kids, wife, our dogs, these two teams and my morning coffee are the only things in my life I would not give up for anything. Not necessarily in this order.

Tier 2: UConn women’s hoops, Denver Broncos, UConn football.
Teams I follow closely in-season but don’t obsess about when they aren’t playing games.

Tier 3: My fantasy football team, Harwich Mariners.
Teams I care about, but realize very few others do.

Tier 4: Denver Nuggets, Colorado State hoops.
Teams I do root for and once followed very closely, but can’t really claim hardcore fandom anymore.

Tier 5: Arizona State baseball, ASU basketball, Colorado State football, Colorado basketball. Northern Colorado basketball/football
Teams I have enough reason to care if they’re on and/or good.

Dead to me: Colorado Rockies
Once occupied a much higher spot. Realized a couple years ago that I just could not do it anymore because of ownership/front office and completely cut ties. Highly recommended.

Yes. If Aidan had stayed at SMC, I'd still be a Gaels fan, but even now I have some interest due to my having seen so many of their games the last two seasons, and also the fact I've seen some of their still-current players play at the HS level. I am definitely interested in seeing what 7'1" redshirt freshman Andrew McKeever can do. I saw him play HS ball at nearby Granada HS, and saw him develop from a rather gawky 6'10" soph to what might be a real diamond in the rough.

I was disappointed at first when Aidan jumped into the portal, but quickly realized I was going to become a fan of whatever school he moved to (except maybe U$C).

As a dad with 2 boys that age, just finished 2nd year of tee ball: it’s fun and entertaining to watch, but if you REALLY enjoyed it enough to go watch another kid, that’s the crime in and of itself.

I am personally hoping the growing up goes slow but get me to a point they can run throw catch and hit.

Re: that "which kid is yours?" question... I get asked that all the time when I am at high-school basketball games.

I usually answer, "Just a hoops addict..." or words to that effect.
