Hmmm, I don’t follow the W closely … is the Indiana coach on any kind of hot seat?

I doubt anyone leaves. It's not like a complete regime change. And it's a bit late in the portal to find a good landing spot even if someone decided to exit. Same is true for the signed class of 2024.

I think Jan Jensen is a natural, prudent and necessary successor, all at once. IMO, Iowa admin. virtually had to name Jan so the possibility of transfers and/or decommitments didn't have a chance of happening. (Players, after all, do get 30 days to enter the portal after a coaching change.)

Jensen is a terrific post coach and from everything I've read. was the chief recruiter and retention agent of Caitlin Clark. She's spent a lot of time with Clark during her career in addition to posts.

Only other person that came to mind ASAP was the former Jennie Lillis, (now Baranczyk), who spent her collegiate career at the University of Iowa as a great hoopster before becoming a good college coach who right now has a prime opportunity at Oklahoma to add Ragen Beers to a good Oklahoma team.

But the circumstances were right for Jensen.

All power to Coach Bluder and Good luck to Head Coach Jensen.

I tend to doubt that..........too many other outstanding players/recruits to keep him entertained but I guess you never know.......

Also thought she might stay around long to try to ensure her hold on the all-time Big Ten (conference game) victory list. She leads Brenda Frese 262 - 158. Brenda is certainly young enough to pass Bluder.
 
Bluder finishes with 884 wins, just 17 shy of passing Jody Conradt for 10th all-time.

What ever career people choose, most will tell you they knew when it was time to retire.

My mentor from student teaching told me that you know when it's time. He was correct. I knew when it was time to retire.

Lisa knew. Congrats on a great coaching career. Enjoy your retirement. For there is a great life after work.

Much as I have admired and cheered for Caitlin, Kate has been my favorite Hawkeye player for the past several years. She's a coach in the making, and showed right here her maturity and ability to handle surprising news thrown at her during what had to be an emotional press conference about her own playing career.

In the last 5 years we've lost many all time greats to retirement:
Tara Vanderveer- #1 all time in wins (1216)
Barbara Stevens- #4 all time (1058)
C Vivian Stringer- #5 all time (1055)
Sylvia Hatchell- #6 all time (1023)
Muffet McGraw- #7 all time (936)
Lisa Bluder- #11 all time (884)

Also worth noting--all women. Seems like the women have been retiring earlier than the men.

Smart move by Bluder as there is a 0000000% chance anyone close to the caliber of Clark is ever walking through Carver-Hawkeye arena again. Lisa is a good coach who had an uber talent fall into her lap and used her beautifully. Let's be honest though, she's had the biggest show ever in WBB, but got 0 recruiting success out of it....at a P5 school. It's not like Delaware having EDD. This is the B10.

I say good for her. I can't imagine the emotional toll coaching takes and she is still young enough to do so many things.

I hadn't realized till just now that Martin made the Aces' opening-day roster. I thought that was a long shot, but it's absolutely wonderful news. It was so cool on draft night when she was there to support Clark and got picked, and ESPN interviewed her. I think Coach Hammon can make good use of a tough, heady big guard/wing.
