Likeliest OOC Loss?

Which OOC game are the dogs likeliest to lose (If the pragmatists among us are to be believed)?

Becasue we needed a true road game. It's a home and home.
Hiw is it a H&H when we’ve played there 2x in a row? Was that part of the big12 challenge? do we get to play them at home next year?

Yes, one was the Big XII challenge. This one is the start of a home and home and they play in CT next year.

They never play the same team in back to back years so a return game couldn't happen.
That was never a rule. They didn't have a return game because Self was fraidy-scared. It was in all the papers.

Loss? What are you giving up on the possibility of running the table already? In AUGUST? I thought we were all supposed to be fans here.
I repeat, I believe we’ll go 6-0. The question is not incongruent with that belief.

You left off the most important answer

NONE OF THE ABOVE, NOT HAPPENING

I demand the OP be banned for at least 1 month
I didn’t ask which is the likeliest outcome: lose one of these 6 or zero… my question does not assume we lose any of them.

Im nervous about az , illionis and byu. We still have that target on our back and a lot of new faces. If we can get by byu I think we sweep. If we lose then I think it'll have a Maui effect. I was in Chicago for the 30 point drumming we gave illinois 2 years ago, and trust me, they have revenge on their mind.

BS. Hurley said that was nonsense. Wasn’t a formal rule but it had never once happened. It was an informal rule.

This year was just UConn with a strong home/neutral slate and zero OOC road games, needing a road game. Kansas already has UNC and NC State on the road, and a bunch of neutral games.
And look what has happened in this thread since you clarified the why……..yup knew that was coming. Unfortunately, we as a collective all things UConn men’s basketball will always have an underlying inferiority complex. Certain we display enough of the symptoms to be clinically diagnosed.

We all know there is what appears to be a very rational answer but many of us (I count myself in the us) still feel somehow that we got the short end of the stick.

Not sure if that ever goes away no matter how many chips we win. Or maybe it will fade away after most of the boomers are no longer around. Could be a generational complex for those of us that remember being second fiddle to Rhode Island and certainly Providence for the best team in New England…..l.

An inferiority complex you don’t say? Strong diagnosis Dr Hawk.

You're speaking for yourself.

UConn is the best basketball program in America, it's bizarre you would think they're inferior to anyone.

I agree with you however, @Hunt for 7 is not to far off with his assessment. When ever there's talk about blueblood teams UConn seams to not be mentioned in the same breath as Duke, Kansas and even North Carolina who have not been as relevant as UConn. The media like ESPN love to be in the past.

Not sure that is what I meant. Of course we are the best basketball program in America….but does the rest of America look at us and say yeah UConn is the best college basketball program.

What I meant is we never seem to get the respect we deserve outside of the Northeast and sometimes not even in the northeast.

I remember working with Kansas alum in 1993 in South Carolina and I knew what was brewing in Storrs, but when I mentioned UConn as a great men’s basketball program he would laugh at me. Something tells me is even if I ran into this guy today he would still have the same condescending attitude if I tried to suggest UConn was a better program.

No matter what we achieve we always seem to be running behind the Duke’s and Kansas’ and probably Kentucky’s of the world.

So perhaps my understanding/definition of what an inferiority complex is may not be correct.

Fine with me as long as UConn keeps winning more championships than all of those programs. 😀

We’ve come a long way since 1993. I can see why anyone in SC would be skeptical back then.

The Blue Bloods will always pose resistance to allowing us into that fictitious club because they index hard with pride on history. It’s their way of keeping it exclusive. But I really don’t think anyone is downplaying the meteoric rise and accomplishment of the program after these last two NCs. As we recently saw with CBKs list as UConn being the top program in the country. There is really no reason to have a chip any longer, unless you just like being that way. I find the gluttons on UConn twitter that rush to defend every little remark not the ilk of a secure fanbase.

Can someone explain why we are playing @ Kansas again after playing there in 2023?

Because the networks are trying to keep KU and the rest of the old guard relevant

KU ain't competing away from Fogged In Arena. They're pissed they only get to play 1/2 of their conference games at home

We just need to be 3 points better than last time
We took 14 more shots than UF. That almost always leads to a win, and how poorly we shot the basketball. Stings more when you look at the box. We shot 8-29 from 3 for 27%, 37% overall. If we just shoot it decent it was a win. Solo particularly had a bad game at 2-11. Meanwhile UF shot 46% from three. Hopefully that one burns for the returnees and motivates.

As a fan I generally root for the team we lost to because I prefer the concept of losing to the champions, but I also love that Hurley said that only makes it more brutal for him. This year’s team is gonna be full of hungry huskies.

They will next year
KU usually plays at least one OOC road game and tough neutral games. They have two this year (UNC, NC State) we have one. Self actually schedules about the way Hurley does now. They never have easy OOC schedules.

Man, that's rough.
