Liberty vs Mercury last night

Tina and her BFF Epiphanny Prince led the Liberty to another win 75-73. Brittney Griner won the blocked shots battle with 7 but lost the war. (Kiah had 2 blocks)

The Big East players on that team are doing a heck of a job - Tina, Epiphanny, Kiah, Essence Carson, Sugar Rogers, and Swin.

Though Lambeir (sp?) can act like a fool, he knows basketball. He is developing the Liberty into a legit contender.

There are many very talented players on the Liberty roster. They are starting to come together and play some very good basketball.

I watched the game. Pretty even - Mercury trying to run, and shoot from outside, Liberty trying to slow down the running and make it a half court game. Tina matched up well with Griner and had a double-double (18/14). Piph was money when it counted. Kiah didn't do much. Mercury led the whole game til the end. But their outside shots mostly clanked. Making just one more would have made the difference. DT and Penny would have made the difference. Good game.

No Tina guarded Griner mostly. I got the sense Griner would have been too much for Kiah. Kiah looked good offensively a few times, but not enough to put many stats up.

Great road win for the Liberty. Kiah was in there at the end. The Liberty had lots of chances to lose it, but they gutted it out. Very impressive team win.
The Liberty are not pushovers anymore. They'll battle you tip to buzzer.

Good road win, and Kiah was at least on the + side of the +\- tally. Swords was the starter and really could do nothing but pull down some rebounds against Griner, and Kiah doubled up on the minutes at the main C spot and was second behind Prince in assists on the night. Tina continues to be a warrior, though the stats still aren't all showing up in the glitter category yet.

I was there, sitting 2 rows behind Anne Meyers and her cohort on the game cast.

My wife was wearing a Griner jersey but found herself unable not to root for NY, as we had season tix for years in NYC, plus the Piph and Carson connection. I, OTH, couldn't be upset by the NY win, but would have preferred the Merc.

Agree with what others said, there were times the Mercury were throwing up shots that maybe should have gone in, but didn't (of course a few went in that had no business doing so, as well). Bill has to be one of the most annoying coaches if you are a ref.
