Ankles are weird, not really something you re-injure. They just hurt like mofos until fully healed. There comes a point where you can push your way through them if you can tolerate the pain, without risking reinjury. Look at a guy like Mahomes, who has had multiple high ankles sprains and almost always played on them. I would think it's more the McNeeley camp that is pushing for caution, rightfully. Broome only missed two games with his.

I personally wouldn't want to be dropping another couple losses without him - we drop Depaul and we are legit looking at the bubble territory with a number of tough games ahead. Him coming back on the road at Marquette isn't ideal. Not sure if you've checked recently, but we are closer to an 8 seed than a 5. God forbid we lose to DePaul then get run in these next 3 very tough games, we may be looking at a play in game, with very little time to build any momentum going into the tourney season. I'd rather get him back ASAP even if he has a little lingering pain, and see him tough it out for the team. This team isn't so good even with him that they can just plug him in and expect instant magic. Im really hoping he can suit up and get on the floor for 5-10 tomorrow.

You sure about not re-injury when coming back from a high ankle sprain. This is not the same as a rolled ankle sprain. From what I have seen on high ankle sprains you come back to soon then you can have a set back that will linger and then not heal correctly which then leads to surgery to stabilize the ligaments.

Just research what happened to Cooper Kupp when he tried to return from a high ankle sprain too soon. But everyone is different. Mahomes apparently can play through any injury since he is a normal human being, or at least thatch’s what the NFL is marketing him.

Hey I love Lunardi latest brackets with Huskies as 8 seed and Duke a 1
I hope we match up with them with a healthy McNeeley.
surprised at how many UConn fans think this would be a good matchup for UConn, our 1A/1B best player(AK) would be instantly wiped out

Too many here remember their high school sprained ankles and wonder why Liam isn’t back. Look into high ankle sprains a bit more and you will find that it is much more severe with longer recovery and possibility of worse damage if you come back too soon. I would love to have Liam get reps in against. DePaul but that ain’t happening.

I would hope we can beat DePaul without him, but who knows for sure.
This team hasn’t exactly blazed past anyone and plays down to competition. DePaul won at Gtown a few weeks ago and played us tough in Chicago. I don’t expect a loss but who knows.

As for high ankle sprains, yeah you do have to ensure mobility and strength is back. It looked like a grade 1 to me, so I would think closer to 4 weeks, but all a hunch.

Whose idea was that, other than yours?

Sure, change the wording just slightly enough and your take has a certain appeal.

But read the two side by side, and then wonder why you chose not to quote the post exactly. I suspect that it might weaken your typically hyperbolic labeling. "Totally" leaves no room for qualification, and "nuts" is used to turn a disagreement into a mandate by use of means of claiming mental illness as a pejorative. You present enough indication of extreme claims regarding mental and/or emotional imbalance to suggest your own uneasiness in such matters, and a corresponding seeming unwillingness or inability to shift course. It's a genuine wonder that you ever might imagine anybody else might pause, examine, and/or change themselves, whether it be a coach, a player, or a fellow fan.

Submitted for your consideration: I at least mock myself by writing arguably too many words rather than mocking you by aping your brevity by writing (something akin to*), "STFU, moron."

* Oh wait, that was literal, but I felt some 'need' to suggest that I had a choice of options to be aggressive & derisive in order to try and control the narrative. In other words, nobody said what you wrote, so your comment can't be directly refuted, but it also has no value. If I were a bettor, I'd say you won't change. Stay precious.
His post received 13 likes. I'm sure very few people will take the time to read this. I enjoyed it.

Anyone watching this team and thinks DePaul is a win is crazy. I’ve seen them play against GTown and Marquette, played them both really well. They’re talented enough to ruin our night and we’re not playing well enough right now to be over confident that’s for sure!

“I guess we’ll see how he feels after (Tuesday’s) practice to see where he goes,” Hurley said Tuesday evening. “Less likely to play than play.”

The standard recovery for high ankle sprains in the NFL is 6-weeks. Hurley said month-end which wound be 4. It seems really aggressive for him to come back this week, but we don't know the grade of the sprain, so...maybe?

Don’t think all of us love the matchup. But one way to ease the pain of a less than expected year would be pulling off a miracle win against Duke in the second round.

We have fared well against them in the tourney. I mean we would be prohibitive under dogs but I remember the first national championship game.

Everyone is different, but Jonathan Kuminga suffered a high ankle sprain 3 days after Liam. The Warriors just announced that he's still at least 2 weeks away.

I thought he would give us more. Thought he might be the most surprising player of the year. Oh well talent eval is not easy. It’s amazing how much of a step up this is from high school. Makes what DC did even more impressive.
Nowell was a dominant HS point guard but unless he’s Allen Iverson how was he supposed to shut down guys who are 4 or 5 inches taller and can leap over tall buildings? Or for that matter score over him. This is not to say he won’t contribute in the future in some way.

That's alarmingly close to not having any point guard available.
I don't really see us losing to DePaul without McNeeley, but if somehow we don't have Diarra (and Nowell) either, that changes the calculus.

I hope he can turn into a Jamal Shead-type player. Shead is barely 6' tall, but he was still a ferocious defender and had the toughness and ability to make plays on the offensive end too.

So much promise for both Nowell and Abraham in the summer, and they have contributed nothing. Very disappointing.
