Important thing here is that he has no other visits scheduled. You know how our program works, in a little over a month we’ll be practicing getting ready for our euro trip. Hurley is going to press for a commitment on the visit.

This guy has 1,500 followers, which is inexplicably the same number of times he's been linked to here, and coincidentally also the same number of times he's been wrong about something.

It's basically the same value as citing the fake insider whose Twitter bio says "boob inspector" or whatever.

I regard @HuskyNan as a maximally prolific and trustworthy Boneyard poster. Go to WBB Forum for clarity on that point.

I believe her when she says she's known him for a long time, because she has included portions of his back story that align with my having had passing acquaintance with him 2 decades ago within - of all things - CT Family Law practice in Bridgeport & Stamford courts.

All that adds up to is that I'm confident that he's not a fictional character. None of that speaks to his knowledge on subject matter, the quality of his sources, the accuracy of his reports, etc.

A fake insider whose bio says " boob inspector" and gets his greatest attention from what seem like hot takes ("Cooley resigning," right?) strikes me quite differently.

His 247 scout, if he doesn’t sound like a kid that would thrive here idk what would:

Liam McNeeley has one of the best combinations of skill and basketball acumen in the national class. He came up the ranks known as a shooter – and for good reason as he has clean mechanics, a compact release, and shot over 40% from behind the three-point line in both the NIBC and EYBL seasons – but he’s far more versatile than just a specialist. He’s particularly adept at coming off screens, making instinctual reads, and then attacking defenders while they are on the move. That can mean movement threes, but it can also mean curls, dribble penetration, and an ability to get downhill at times. McNeeley has a high natural feel for the game and is a good passer who can also facilitate for others around him. In fact, Montverde frequently made him the featured player of their half-court offense during his junior season and relied on his ability to make decisions with the ball in his hands, not necessarily as a primary ball-handler, but as the first domino in many of their actions. Physically, he’s not especially long or athletic, but he has legit size at over 6-foot-7 with his shoes on, a sturdy base, and increasingly strong and cut upper body. He’s made strides being able to stay in front of more athletic wings on the defensive end, in large part because he’s aware enough to be in the right spots and take the right angles. Overall, McNeeley may not have the ideal physical measurables of a prototypical five-star prospect, but he is one of the most consistently productive and reliable basketball players in the class
Why you trying to get us all excited like that?!

It doesn’t seem to be a out max money with this kid, because he left Indiana who dropped 1.2m on Diallo…

You HAVE to stop going to twitter for any serious takes. No one on twitter actually cares about Flagg. They’re TROLLING.

Trolling – (verb), as it relates to internet, is the deliberate act, (by a Troll – noun or adjective), of making random unsolicited and/or controversial comments on various internet forums with the intent to provoke an emotional knee jerk reaction from unsuspecting readers to engage in a fight or argument
You’re being dishonest if you are saying that every UConn fan on Twitter who mentions Flagg is just trolling. Seriously.

Real guy with real sources. I think whoever he talks to at UConn either doesn't get good info or passes it on late when things have changed.

No. They most definitely are. No one actually thinks Flagg is decomitting. They’re doing it to piss off Duke fans. You must not spend much time on twitter?

Based on his Twitter handle I assume he's getting these scoops via fax that he's getting around to reading 3 months after they were sent. Doesn't seem the most technologically savvy

Yeah, there are a bunch who can’t get over it and still tweet about it. Just like a bunch of posters here on the yard.

I will translate: I really want him but if he goes somewhere else I didn’t really want him.
More like if he goes somewhere else it reveals that he didn't want to be at UConn and therefore it's not a big deal that he went somewhere else in the first place. UConn has won plenty with "worse" rated players who fit the culture, and we shouldn't sweat the kids who go elsewhere.

Having said that, high rated players who fit the culture like Castle sure are swell so I hope he is one of those.

I think it's a good sign.

A week ago folks I talked to said if it was us vs. the field they'd take the field. Now those same folks are saying if it's us vs. the field they'd take us.

Nothing's done yet, obviously. But we're very, very strong here.

If he visits and likes what Hurley has to say and likes the culture Hurley built he will pick UConn. If he is just fishing the the biggest pot of gold, Alabama or Arkansas will be his pick. Either way UConn wins. The guys chasing the bags of money don’t care about anything but landing the next bag of money. They tend to be selfish, ball hogs, and bad teammates and it’s why all these 5 star laden teams almost always under achieve.
I am optimistic McNeeley is not that type of person, giving us a legit shot

Listen at the end of the day- as Hurley said if the kid or player is going to start the conversation about how much money can they get it’s probably not a good fit for UConn anyways.

With that said, I would imagine that McNeeley knows that already & is coming for a visit not because of just how much money he can make this year- but he understands that in the bigger picture on the player development side this program & staff can put a lot more money in his pockets down the road- like in 2025 2026 draft nights- similar to what Castle is going to soon get.
I think it’s over simplistic to dismiss a young man’s goals or work ethic because they are moved by the offer of more money. Some young people are in situations where more money sooner is extremely important. If it was my son he could afford to be worried about long term earning potential the wanting to win and be part of a team while he had the choice, but not everyone is lucky enough to have that choice.

We should go easier on young men who are moved primarily by the offer of more money when they need the more money at the present time.

Agreed. The goal should be to offer among the best NIL packages and the best basketball experience. From there, the coaches can make character a judgement.

I’ve found that people that consider financial factors in their decisions are often among the most responsible. It isn’t necessarily a red flag. It really depends on the attitude and reasoning behind pursuing more money. A kid that wants money for fancy clothes is different from a kid that says he’s opening an IRA or paying off his single mom’s house.

Yea I am not discouraging any young kid or anyone at all to make as much money as possible given what the market offers them- we are an open market & live in a capitalist country- which I love!

Just repeating what Hurley has now said on multiple occasions as far as how he looks at NIL & recruiting players (just said again yesterday on the Dan Patrick show).

Not sure how you came to that conclusion on the statement I made? I also never even mentioned work ethic- lol.

If it was my son it would be ultimately up to him & he is going to have to pay for college if he chooses to go to college- with that said- I understand either decision & see value in both.

I apologize for the bold text- I cannot figure out how to shut it off.

Should not be dismissed but if it’s a primary motivator it’s likely that it will be seen in locker room and generally be counter culture. NIL also has to be balanced, such that you’re not rocking the boat with current players. Throwing a bag of cash at someone from the outside when you aren’t paying your own is never a good look. Lots to balance.

As someone who evaluates talent for a living, if the dollars are primary and one dismisses aspect of culture and growth, without a grasp of the long term, the behaviors once in seat align with that way of thinking 99% of time. The psychology around it it fairly predictable.

Don't know if this has been mentioned on the Yard or not. Supposedly Mark Pope had a Zoom call with Liam yesterday(Wed night). His OV in Storrs can't happen soon enough for me.

You wouldn’t know if I did or didn’t. Let’s put it this way, I’m on there enough to watch you embarrass yourself making the same definitive statements you’re making now. And no they are not all just doing it to piss off Duke fans. Not even close. Some are. Some aren’t .
