This is the story of a player going from the outhouse to the penthouse.

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Lady Raider junior Lexi Gordon was named Big 12 Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. It marks the Fort Worth, Texas, native's first career Big 12 weekly honor in only her third week of eligibility for the award

Gordon exploded offensively for the Lady Raiders on Sunday, recording career highs of 31 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for her first career double-double. Playing in just her fifth game at Tech, the junior was efficient, shooting 12-of-16 (.750) from the floor and 3-of-4 (.750) from three-point range. [Box Score]

Gordon was instrumental in pushing Texas Tech to its 115-58 win over Univ. of Texas San Antonio (UTSA), with the 115 points being the most for the program in a game since 1980 (39 years). The win clinched Texas Tech's first undefeated run through non conference play since 2011, and just the fourth time ever.

Gordon has been outstanding for the Lady Raiders since making her first appearance on Dec. 15 since transferring from UConn last season. The Fort Worth, Texas, native has scored in double digits three times in five games for Tech. Gordon and the Lady Raiders will be back in action this Friday when they host Iowa State to open Big 12 play at 7 p.m.

UConn got a nice indirect endorsement from Brittany Brewer (Texas Tech's leading scorer and rebounder) in that interview, when she was asked about Lexi:

"She's really brought a lot of good stuff from UConn -- how hard they work -- and her work ethic is, like, unmatched."

Massey has them #68. Can they make the playoffs? Seems like they are a fun team.

Imagine if they still had DeGrate and Guirantes:eek: They haven't really played anyone, but nice to see them having some success despite recent struggles.

It can't be overstated how weak Tech's schedule has been. It's a remarkable feat to be #186 in the RPI despite an undefeated record this many games in.

Really happy for Lexi. I think the timing of her stay at UCONN was unfortunate. I believe she really could have contributed this year given our lack of depth, but I'm happy she landed in a place closer to home and is having a chance to shine. I like to think the UCONN coaches had a little bit to do with her success at this point! It's clear they instilled some great work habits for her to bring to TTU!

And just think, her qork ethic at UConn wasn't enough..... One can then imagine the work ethic around the nation....

Talk about an understatement! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a undefeated team with double digit wins be ranked in triple digits by RPI, let alone closer to 20 than 100. Major question marks until they play some big sisters of at least the middle class...

Well this is a Marlene Stollings team we’re talking about here.....

Minnesota fans are certainly familiar with her MO of putting together nonconference schedules that make Kim Mulkey look like a daredevil.

This is the most extreme scenario I think I've ever seen: A power conference team that claims to have postseason aspirations played a nonconference schedule that ranks **dead last** (#351) in the entire country per RPI.

It will make for an interesting test case if Texas Tech can beat enough people in the Big 12 to enter the conversation. I think it'll be extremely hard for them to even bring their RPI to within range.

Watching a little of her game tonight. Seems like a perfect school for her. She can walk up and down the court, play no defense, and really only operate in about quarter court on offense. They play slow so it doesn't require her to be in UConn shape so good move for her.

Well, her team may have lost by 30 but the Tech radio crew awarded her Bud Light Player of the Game :)

In the first half Lexi looked really good and made me wonder if she could have helped UConn. However, in the third quarter she looked very tired and it was plain to see why she had trouble at UConn. She was trotting down court at times as were some of her teammates. That comeback took a toll on TT.
