This is the story of a player going from the outhouse to the penthouse.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Lady Raider junior Lexi Gordon was named Big 12 Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. It marks the Fort Worth, Texas, native's first career Big 12 weekly honor in only her third week of eligibility for the award
Gordon exploded offensively for the Lady Raiders on Sunday, recording career highs of 31 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for her first career double-double. Playing in just her fifth game at Tech, the junior was efficient, shooting 12-of-16 (.750) from the floor and 3-of-4 (.750) from three-point range. [Box Score]
Gordon was instrumental in pushing Texas Tech to its 115-58 win over Univ. of Texas San Antonio (UTSA), with the 115 points being the most for the program in a game since 1980 (39 years). The win clinched Texas Tech's first undefeated run through non conference play since 2011, and just the fourth time ever.
Gordon has been outstanding for the Lady Raiders since making her first appearance on Dec. 15 since transferring from UConn last season. The Fort Worth, Texas, native has scored in double digits three times in five games for Tech. Gordon and the Lady Raiders will be back in action this Friday when they host Iowa State to open Big 12 play at 7 p.m.
