I'm stoked that Jaylin is returning. He certainly looks the part of a star and oozes potential. I'm cautiously optimistic that he will have a breakout season in 25-26. That said, despite watching lots of UConn games this season, I don't have a great feel for his strengths and weaknesses. Can he be All Conference next season? For some reason I'm having a hard time determining what his skill set is or isn't. Would love to hear what Hey Adrien thinks as his opponent scouting reports are great.

Jaylin? I hope the incoming portal players and freshmen are so impactful that J Stew is the runaway sixth man of the year.
25mpg.
13ppg
5 boards
2 assists
1 steal
1 block

I'm guessing this means we've opted not to pursue a portal SF.

I think depending on the PG we get, he either starts or is sixth-man.
If LM had stayed, JS would've left. It was one or the other. We need a scoring point guard and a backup point guard from the portal, both who can defend and handle the rock.

Jaylin is not coming back to be 6th man no matter what they are. He has put in his time with Hurley and WILL be a starter. All season.

Tough to really guess his role until the dust settles with our returnees and the portal. Right now we have 4 guys confirmed for next year.

I suspect he's either the starting 4 with a transfer wing competing with Mullins, or he's the guy competing with Mullins at the 3. Either way he's getting 25 minutes a game

Tbh, i wanna root for Huskies. It's different. I feel differently about an AK or Sam. Through and through

Stewie- I love a guy who stays amidst all this noise. He loves the same thing i love and would rather he fill the starting role than someone with a wandering eye.

Or a portal PF. Stew is better at the 4

Plus athlete(Tyrese Martin level imo) with a good nose for the ball:

Accurate description of JStew's game imo. He's not the flashy passer that Andre Jackson was, but he is a great connective passer. Will be interesting to see him find a balance between being a distributor and a microwave scorer. Watch the first half of the Memphis game in Maui. He can heat up quick:

Just needs to get in the weight room put on maybe 10 lbs of muscle at his age shouldn’t be a problem

Work on his defense particularly lateral movement which will help with him not having to reach and pick up cheap fouls.

Work on his jumper particularly mid range and adding the muscle will help finish around the rim also get most consistent from 3. Become a true 3 level scorer.

The guy has the talent he could be next years teams MVP

It may mean that Alex is gone. Stewart is a much better 4 than a 3. His defensive problems mostly come against small quick guys.

I'm glad he's back. A talented guy who can play 3/4, shoot from outside and who knows our system is a key piece.

Jaylin is a 'long term' investment. There are dozens of NBA 'superstars' who didn't develop until junior/senior seasons. I can't wait to see his 3rd season.

We needed Jaylin to return, to help lead the incoming freshman. This is huge.

I have always loved Stewart's game. He is such an underrated player in my opinion. I think he has a high ceiling. If he is ever able to put it all together, he is a National player candidate. He also tends to make silly mistakes that get him yanked early. I think we need him on the floor if UConn is to be at their best in March and April the next year or two.

I'm excited to see Jaylin be a focal leader on the floor. Think he has it in him, love the intensity he plays with at times. He just needs to learn to lock in with that intensity all game, not in spurts.

This is going to be a really interesting off season.
The game against Florida gave me some hope that our roster construction was not quite as “bad” as my eye test said it was all season. J Stew was definitely a bright spot toward the end of the year as his defense was something we could count on- (he always had potential to be really good on the offensive end).
Trust in Hurley.

An argument can be made for Stew at the 3 or the 4. If he can improve his perimeter D I would want him at the 3. I just want more size. I want someone bigger with some muscle at the 4 as well. I saw our guys at the McDonalds game last night and Mullins does not look like a three. He looks 6'4" tops and slender. A perfect 2 guard which is what he would be in the NBA. I think he's the 6th man

I can't imagine him not starting tbh, playing mainly the 3/4. Would love for him to make a leap, but I think realistically it would be great if he could average 10 points and be the X factor all year, all game, as opposed to 4 minute stretches every other game.
