I've never been able to figure out the ending of this song. I think it's open to interpretation. Someone comes to a bad end, but it could be the narrator, or it could be the person he's pining for. You get to decide.

I think the story on this one, the band was out touring, they got home and found out a woman the singer knew had died while they were gone. Wrote the song about her.
