Apparently The Pretty Reckless has quite a few death songs. This one is a tribute to their producer, who died in a motorcycle accident. It left singer Taylor Momsen really torn up.

Chris Cornell wrote this as a tribute to Andrew Wood. Sadly ironically Cornell also passed way too young. The grunge bands have been ravaged by early deaths.

This is a song about endings: a childhood friendship, a dating relationship, and finally ultimately a funeral.

This one is from American doom metal band All Them Witches. The first line is, "I killed a man at midnight, now the cops are on my trail."

This one is a traditional American song based on a true story. George Thoroughgood also did a good version. I performed it in one of my two paid ($7 for this one) gigs.
